Yewkit was born near the end up leaf-bare. Though his beginnings are fuzzy, his first memory is of the nursery of Leafclan by the warmth of his family. However his actual birth isn't one he can remember, as he was so young. Yewkit was born in an old fox den to his mother Gleam and father Olive. During a harsh snowstorm a Leafclan patrol took shelter with them, his future adoptive father and cousin among them. They watched over Gleam while Olive went to hunt. The next day Olive didn't return, and they found him unmoving in the snowy forest. Gleam passed away the next morning, after the patrol made plans to bring and his littermates back to camp. Yewkit was brought back to camp anyway, and was adopted by Hopfoot and his mate, Brokenstripe.

Yewkit was given to Leopardspots as his foster mother, needing someone to nurse him. He had three littermates Shimmerkit, Crocuskit and Bloomkit. Though he enjoyed their company, he enjoyed the time he had with Adderflame's kits while they were still in the nursery.

He is also joined by his cousin Sedgeblossom and her kits, who he likes, but isn't too happy about the cramped den. Thankfully he isn't stuck there too long with them. Only a few moons and he become an apprentice with his littermates.

He is given Edelweisshope, his cousin, as his mentor. Yewpaw is thankful to have someone he likes as his mentor, and hopes his littermates take well to training too! Although bad things happen, and the clans' high ranks end up going missing. This goes on for a while, staring tensions between Cloudclan and Leafclan, as Leafclan accuses Cloudclan of taking their high ranks. Blackstone and Heartwood are mostly in charge, but the clan still goes moons without their leader, deputy and medicine cat. With only Butterflydew as their sole medicine cat.

Because of this, Yewpaw and his siblings stay apprentices much longer than they were supposed to, only ranking up to warriors at 14 moons, as opposed to the usual 12 moons everyone else had. This left Yewberry and his littermates a bit upset, but they were finally warriors.

Pale cloud crossed over the sun, casting dark shadows across the land below. Sweetbreeze was quietly watching as rain began to slowly flutter down, pelting the ground below. She was safe from the rain under the safety of her tree, but still jumped when drops splattered too close. Her fur rose as she stared across, watching another clans' territory in the distance. She couldn't help but wonder... what was it like in the other clans?
