Is it really a Fighter/Assault aircraft? 'Cause that's what you designated it.

this was a commision but yes it's a Blackbird modified to function as a multirole high speed figter i know that sounds a bit strange but well seems that works !

Sweet! I've always wanted an aircraft that can fly that fast to bomb something or to shoot something down, because, once the missile is fired, the aircraft will probably pass it if it kept flying in a straight line.

Heheh, if I were to find one that transforms into a creaky old man with a cane (as well as parts falling off), I'd die of laughter just listening to his groans and ranting.

Well anyways, ~Devil-505 , great use of the AC3 Blackbird concept here!

Boomerang503 In reply to BoggeyDan [2009-06-29 13:56:45 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

However, it's a Blackbird in looks only. Internally, it's a brand new machine.

ZOMG, I CAME!

I just love this awesome design. Although it shoud be called OXCART II, since the A-12/YF-12A [link] were dubbed OXCART previous to the Blackbird (which was the SR-71 [link] ) and it looks more like a YF-12A.

(Awesome Sidenote Question: Do you know why it's called the SR-71 and not the RS-71? )

IgorKutuzov In reply to dredddlokk [2009-06-29 10:52:19 +0000 UTC]

during the inauguration speech the president sayed SR-71 of RS-71...
I'm right ?

Since it's a two-seater, I went with "Blackbird II." If it was a one-seater, then I would've gone with "Oxcart II."

C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!! [link]

(Yes, it's an OXCART )

Boomerang503 In reply to dredddlokk [2009-06-29 20:33:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, the "Blackbird" name is more famous than "OXCART" anyway.

VoughtVindicator [2009-06-28 20:43:02 +0000 UTC]

I know ACS, I did a drawing for that.

So I guess it's an interceptor, like the original concept of the A-12 plane. Though why is it F/A? I can't see something with a turning radius the size of european countries attacking ground targets

Boomerang503 In reply to VoughtVindicator [2009-06-28 23:43:23 +0000 UTC]

Also, if you haven't noticed, those are thrust-vectoring engine nozzles, so its turn rate would be improved, along with reaction-control thrusters at high altitudes.

The Roadrunner Squadron itself is based on the real-life squadron [link] .

VoughtVindicator In reply to Boomerang503 [2009-06-29 02:12:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, the design itself of the A-12 doesn't allow for much maneuvrability. Take in account those intake spikes and the speed it goes; but I find the designation to be an interesting nod to both aircraft.

Boomerang503 In reply to VoughtVindicator [2009-06-28 23:25:47 +0000 UTC]

The designation is just a combination of YF-12 and A-12, although it could (theoretically) launch standoff AGMs (the abortive AGM-76 was derived from the AIM-47 carried by the Blackbird).

Its primary roles would still be reconnaissance and interception.

maybe can carry precision bombs to strike from high altitude don't know why is called F/A !
only know why

Looks cool. What's its role?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IgorKutuzov In reply to VoughtVindicator [2009-06-28 20:40:22 +0000 UTC]

it's a fighter for the project tornado: Ace Combat S

used by the UN forces by a squadron called "Roadrunners"

here you can find the first 4 chapters of ACS
