Tools: 0.5 mechanical pencil, eraser, PhotoshopArietta from Tales of the Abyss

I attempted to color some penciled line art...I suppose it turned out okay. I wish I could have blended her into the background better, though.
I used a Photoshop brush for the grass. How shameful.

Hmm, pink hair, sad expression... I keep expecting her to say, "I want to go home."
I like this version more than the cell-shaded one; the softer shading makes Arietta look more melancholy. And I love her stuffed animal (I know next to nothing about the game, other than what it says on Wikipedia, so I have no idea what the stuffed animal is...).
One thing, though - compared to the rest of the picture, her hat looks a little strange. I think it's something to do with the outline.

I like alot how its anime style and colored but still yet somehow sketchy but not as much as someone would do a sketch before linearting it, anyway, you know waht i mean... i hope

Are you sure? O__o Maybe your monitor isn't picking up the difference in shading for some reason? Try looking at her skirt; I think the difference is most noticeable there.

I like cell shaded clothes, but I like soft shaded everything else. I think. I'm a weirdo. =L

I like this version better~ It's all blendy and soft.
I love the shading on her face! It's really nice contrast. But then, the rest of her looks like there's a different light source. Like, her skirt. @__@ HER EYES ARE PRETTY. o___o

I like the cel-shaded version more, but despite it being night I think the shade color for her face is really dark. Awesome background though. I absolutely love the sky and it's purple-ish-ness.

Yeah, her face might be too light, that would render the shadows on the face a good shade.
Oh, I see. Then it might be my computer brightness/contrast button. I played with it before, and I have a LCD screen too.

You know what? That photoshop brush might be a shortcut, but it totally worked well... looks like a full image, with a fitting scenery and everything, you know? I really like the colors. Good job with that!
And... hmm... I like this version more, just because I'm more of a fan of this sort of coloring. :3 I find it so much easier more fun.

Actually, the cel-shading took less time. The way I did this image was cel-shade first, then go over that shading with soft brushes. It is fun, though.
