I'm drawing as much as I can, and try to march trough the pile of critique my art teacher leaves for me almost before I've even entered the classroom. xD
But once I finish something decent, I'll make sure to post.

Ooohhh cool, nice coloring, very nice shading. My art teacher drives me insane telling me I need more value tones in my art, apparently she can't see well, because I do put value tone....I'm getting off subject, but I meant to say great value tone. And the night theme is awesome.

Haha, now you have to tell me what value tones are. Well, I've learned (I think I've learned) that every art teacher has this unique style that they use and try to pass on to their students. For instance, I had one that wanted us to draw an apple that was on display. She said she could see purple in it... everyone at my table thought she was nuts... but now that I think about it she could've seen the purple as a color to help apply a darker shade. Haha, it would've helped if she said that then!

The amount of time on this.. hm.. I guesstimate about 4-5 hours yesterday and a couple of hours a few months ago. hehehe
Let me see what the number of unhidden layers racked up to... 14. Finished it off yesterday with PSE (Photoshop Elements), but started it off in Gimp. There's different tools I like to use in each.. I wish there was one software that had just the perfect tools!

I just realized you could've been talking about the specific tools in the software... PSE is a lot cheaper than Adobe Photoshop, but GIMP also offers so much. GIMP is even more awesome since it's free! Seriously, once you know the shortcut keys you can cut time on your work down by so much.

I was, but that's all right. And yes they are nice. What is the shortcut key for zoom? I use that a lot but I can't figure out the shortcut key.

For GIMP, zoom in is + and zoom out is -. You have to use the shift button to get the + if you don't use the numeric keypad. Know what I mean? Nothing special for - though.
You probably already know this, but if you hover over a tool, then it will tell you what the shortcut key is for it as well.
As for answering your original question, main tools used were smudge, airbrush, blur, and good ol' paintbrush.
