[PERSONALITY]
Reserved ll Practical ll Apathetic ll Manipulative ll Mischievous ll Meticulous ll Observant ll Resourceful
In general, Lan Hua prefers not divulge any personal information about herself, but mostly displays a friendly and polite demeanour to those around her. Because of this she can be perceived a kind and peaceful person, however she will rarely go outside her boundary to be extra-nice to a person (unless she sees a necessity in doing so). The reason behind her demeanour is out of practicality rather than ambition (she is practically ambitionless) to blend in with the society by portraying a likeable character rather than suffer the consequence of being negatively perceived by others. To some extent she may also tune what she portrays to different individual according to what she deems fit. To some, this may seem insincere, especially since she can lie to you in a straight face and to some extent – emotionless – of her. Which is not truly accurate as she does show some level of affection and can be fiercely loyal for some people in her live (although the number of such individuals are very small), mainly her grandfather. She can also sometimes be dark humoured and slightly mischievous with no ill intention when she’s bored, playing little harmful pranks yet displaying and unknowing look. She likes to pay attention into details whether it comes to person or works. She is rather quick on her feet in given on given situations and a fast learner on given tasks.
[HISTORY]
The Wang Family
Lan Hua's mother, Li Hwa, was a well known Sytherin for both her beauty and intellect, but this changed when her lifestyle took a turn into a careless, glamorous, full of party life due to a depression she took after her graduation from her mother's sudden death and her father's neglectful attitude. This caused her to have a lot of flings and multiple partners, but never a serious long term relationship. One of them, for sure, led her to Lan Hua. However, the identity of the said man remained unknown until now.
In honour to her late mother, Li Hwa decided to give birth to Lan Hua instead of having an abortion. But initially troubled enough with her depression and used to her free lifestyle, Li Hwa was unable to cope with her maternal duties and thus abandoned Lan Hua at the early age of 1 and a half years old on the doorstep of her father’s manor, Ren Long Wang (Lan Hua’s Grandfather). She then disappeared and was never found, effectively severing all her ties with the Wang Family.
Ren Long, who dedicated most of his youth expanding his business of apothecary chain store into it's current distinguished state, had finally grown old. He finally realised his grave mistake; that he did not give enough attention to his daughter that caused all of this. To repent, he turned his attention and poured his affection upon his only granddaughter and the sole heir of his business, making the most of time for her. He also spent years trying to find his daughter’s location, but to no avail.
Early Life
Even though without both her parents by her side, the rest of Lan Hua’s childhood remained peaceful and happy. She does receive scorns from her relatives due to her blood status. Thankfully, she since she was taken in directly by her Grandfather, she was away from her relatives most of the time and only have to meet them during major reunions which only happens twice a year. During those encounters, some blatantly shown their dislike by glaring/avoiding her like a plague, but mostly it was just mocking her from behind. There were also times she got curious about both of her parents, but in the end she was content enough with what she had instead and was almost never lonely. The affection that her mother couldn't give her, was compensated by her grandfather who always tried to make most time for her, and the time she spent with her nanny (who was also her mother’s nanny, and now retired). Her grandfather as to now remained to be the greatest influence towards her character as an individual, and especially her interest towards knowledge; specifically potions and herbology which he shared a lot with her since early age.
Lan Hua was very demure, yet curious as a child. She enjoys observing others curiously from the side and never threw a tantrum (not even when she's really upset about things, she'd just frown and voice out her disapproval politely). Her favorite past time would be spending time with her grandfather, watching koi fish in the pond, helping him brewing potions, listening to his stories and more. Sadly, her manipulative trait also began to manifest itself from her early age. The smart girl she was Lan Hua, understood that certain reactions are expected of her from the adult, she secretly thrived from their approvals once she gave them the right attitude; and thus and at some point became very good at lying to either get away from unwanted situations or to get things that she wants. This terrible habit of hers didn't go unnoticed by her grandfather, of course, and gave her a good scolding from the man once he caught her. Though she still carries on her lying habit since she finds it practical, it has at least been significantly reduced after the incident.
Hogwarts Years
Lan Hua's first magic burst happened at the normal age of 7, when one of her aunts gifted her a dress. The design, she decided, was tolerable. The colour, however, was a flashy red which she disapproved. She was rather upset, being trapped in a sticky situation. Throwing or giving it away was not an option since it would be a rather rude an offensive act towards her aunt, yet she could not bring herself to wear something with a shade looking so dreadful in her eyes. In her distress, she accidentally turned the dress into blue. What was an unfavorable situation for her, immediately turned into a joyful occasion she'd be waiting for with this little incident. She knew she would be able to use magic, but just simply didn't know when it would occur until that moment. The next evening, her grandfather threw a banquet in celebration of the occasion. But it was during that time too, that she learned magic can also pose a problem. She accidentally set her annoying distant relative's dress on fire. Magic, she decidedly think since then, needs to be controlled so that such lapse won't happen again. Since then on, she worked diligently on her control of magic.
Time passed, and soon enough Lan Hua received a letter to attend Hogwarts at her age of 11. She was excited and more than eager to learn magic, yet somewhat sad that she'd have to leave her grandfather. Lan Hua was then sorted into Ravenclaw, after much debate by the sorting hat to whether put her in Slytherin; where her mother and grandfather used to be placed in; or Ravenclaw. In the end, she was settled into ravenclaw due to her lack of ambition.
During her first year, she was initially disinterested in making any friends or social connections. She rarely showed any facial expressions when not required, and spent most of her time in the library, learning and absorbing all the materials that she could get her hands on; thus ending up becoming one of the top students of her batch back then. On her second year, out of perhaps boredom and some advice from her grandfather, she developed more interest in joining social interactions and began noting more silent observation on her colleagues. On her third year, she developed into a more 'balanced' person and finally came out from her anti-social cocoon, and that remains until now as she starts her fourth year in the academy. Stance on the looming threat of muggle world
She has neutral feelings against this topic, yet kept a close tab on out of advice from her grandfather. She certainly sees how this could become a problem in the near future, especially with aggression involved. However, she sees this conflict as something necessary and cannot be avoided for the sake of the wizarding world’s evolution in the long run. If handled properly, she feels that this situation could become a great opportunity for the wizarding world to gain new discoveries and possibilities.

- More about the Wang family:
The Wang family is a Chinese descent pureblood family who moved into England a long time ago. They still however, strictly retained some of their Chinese traditions and kept in contact with their relatives who are overseas. To an extent, it can be said the Wang family is a relatively large family and rather exclusive, even to each other. They gained a reputation of mostly being wealthy and influential merchants of diverse range or holding a higher up position in the ministry. Though this case can’t be said for all parts of the household member. In Lan Hua’s case, her grandfather’s (Ren Long Wang) case. Ren Long initially started off as in one of the least successful member of the family and was often looked down upon by other members of the family. Her grandfather’s parents owned a small and modest apothecary store. Burning with ambition, after his graduation from Hogwarts he poured all his hard work and sweat into his family’s shop. The small shop soon enough flourished and expanded quickly into one of the most well-known apothecary chain store in the European part of the wizarding world. But his success also came with a great cost, in the pursuit of his success and ambition he often emotionally neglected his.
Ren Long's workaholic tendency worsens even further after the passing of his wife. He unknowingly left his daughter to deal with grief and depression all by herself, which eventually lead to her carefree lifestyle. The Wang family are of course, mortified by her scandalous actions. Especially several of her relatives who held a higher up position in the ministry, as they are dealing with politics and their personal image are under the public's scrutiny. Her actions did not really affect any of her family's businesses as she was never directly involved in any of them.
