It's anything but over the top! It reminds me of scales in a way. It's just the right light and dark shades to make your eyes get drawn to it, but not letting the wolf disappear into the background.

The colouring looks so lovely and soft... and I love the background, it doesn't detract from the focus of the image, but it's still beautiful (something I can't seem to get right).
