Description Now, I know it seems like I am pretty biased to sport bikes. But you gotta realize I like a balance of it all. I like to LOOK good. I like to GO fast. And I like a motorcycle I don't have to have pulled out of my ass before I walk into a building. I'm a big guy, those little crotch rockets look rediculous under me. My foot is bigger than most of those bikes. It's something akin to...
[link]
It just doesn't fit.
A good hawg can be as fast as you want it and it can look about any way you want it. Sport bikes are wicked fast, sure, but just not cool looking in my opinion.
This guy's (a customer of mine) bike is the perfect example of a bike that suits me. It's big. It's beefy. It's agressive. It's pretty damned fast for a big bike. it's also easier on the testicles. It tickles your sperm instead of crushin' 'em.
What I just couldn't get in pictures is there is a bit of a red glaze over the silver. You see just a tad of glint on the curves when the light hits it. I also love the sound. At idle is sits there and just says "Potatopotatopotatopotato" (Come on, say it. Sounds like a Harley right? Say it deep people. Say it like your nuts dropped)

Haha. Funny! That's a well made bike. The flames look a little disturbing for my tastes, but otherwise, it looks nice. That "firebird" is wicked, too!

Ever since I started doing some custom bike designs for a pretty cool guy in San Jose, these bikes got more interesting to look at. He's wanting to dive into custom sportbikes later on as his new business picks up, should be interesting.

The bike in your picture also looks like a custom version of a stock motorcycle, especially because of that fuel take design with the integrated speedo. I don't think I've ever seen such a setup on a fully custom build.

Yeah, definately a lot of time and money put into that bike. I know it's kind of cliche but I'd have to go with black. It's definately one of a kind. I'd like to park a bone stock but otherwise identical bike right next to it. I bet I run into a lot of other subtle things.
I would love to get one of these and build it to resemble my Camaro. I even have a spare side pipe I can use to make a matching exhaust. Fin everything. Go for that heat sync look.
I really gotta respect guys who can design like this. It tells a lot about the builder.

I never learned to play an instrument. I should have tried, for many years I had an in-law who worked at a guitar store.

I admit there are some looking crotch rockets on the market. I need something I can stretch my legs out on while I ride. (6'2")

Yeah, I need a big bike like this too. I'm 6' 6" (If I stand with posture)
I like the big bikes for cruisability. I don't feel like I have to rush around on one. Not like I have ridden one in... 20 years.

Honestly I don't even remember how to shift. Is it up to down shift and down to upshift? I never even really thought about it.

That's a real good question. I learned the hard way while trying not to get myself killed as a kid on an old Kawi dirt bike way back when in the 80's. I'd have to take one of those riders courses before I'd even attempt to climb back on a motorcycle.

Me too, and that wont be happening soon since
A: I don't have a bike
and
B: The last bit of ligament holding my left big toe on gave out recently and all that's holding it on is MEAT. So it kind of hurts to pull or push anything with my toe.

Yeah, it's one thing I never was able to understand how people would have these cars with major bucks in horsepower but never put it to it's full potential. I raced my Camaro once in a while. New wheels and I'll be doing it again. (I have hard compound BFGs on it right now)

Great paint job. Looks like a real pro job! I come form a Harley/Indian family and love a good panhead or knucklehead lope. But i tend to lean towards japanese cruisers and little british bikes. Thing is, like you mentioned, i am a bit too big for a Trump or BSA. I'd prefer a Crocker or Vincent though... *drool*

My former girl was a Harley chick (75 sportster, customized nice, but about as reliable as a slinky on an uphill slope. Transmission kept crapping out.) and she had this friend. Yuppie bitch, at first you think "What a BITCH!" but a little time with her you see a real sweet side. She just had that hard accent of some sort. Anyway, she got a Honda Valkrye. NICE bike. Good center of gravity, power to play with, comfortable, and fuel injected.
Thing is she was on the inerstate with Tanya and they were riding along, Tanya was about a half car length ahead and a car decided to lane change behind her right where he friend was. (First chick I ever met taller than me, BTW. I'm 6' 6") and her bike got sucked under a tractor trailer's wheels. She got by grabbing on to the box under the trailer where they kept the chains. The driver was on top of it, he hit the brakes, kept it from jackknifing, and he stayed right there comforting her until the ambulance came. From what I'm told she still has nightmares to this day. Those wheels maybe a foot from her toes, the howl of those big tires and the crunch of her bike.
We had BIG plans for that bike. It had some good lines to play with. I was going to try and master fiberglass on it and do some custom panels. We had some leftover candy apple red from the Corvette and we thought about baby blue on the sides of the fenders and ghost flames on the white.

That's scary! Even truckers are not immune to what seems like a subconscious desire amongst most drivers to try and kill anybody riding a bike... I can relate to her though, but only a little. First couple months on the railroad, i was being lazy and didn't want to ride the really shitty side ladders on this reefer car we were shoving about a half mile down a spur. So i stood on the crossover platform, which is on each end of the car. It's a major no-no and very dangerous, but beats hanging onto the vertical side ladder (which you can't even hook your arm around, just hold on with your hands) We are shoving backwards, and i think i see a manager jeep nearby. So i go to swing around and ride the side just in case. Bracketing the crossover platform (which is only about 8" wide at best) are short ladders bolted to the car ends. You grab onto the top rung with one hand while holding onto the crossover rail, put one foot on the bottom rung, then grab the top rung with the other hand, and swing your last foot onto the ladder.
I was tired, and it was dark, and i didn't see that the bottom run was kinda unusual. I grabbed the ladder and swung my foot over at the same time, missed the bottom rung, and fell off the crossover. I was hanging, all 260lbs or so, by the very tips of my fingers with the wheel right in front of me. If i had fallen, it would have cut me in two right up the middle. Best case scenario, i would have fallen to the outside and it would have just cut my leg and/or arm off. But i managed to hold on, got my boots onto the ladder, swung around, and never, ever did that shit again! I can still see that shiny silver wheel tread

When I was living in Grand Junction a brother in law got a job working the train station doing that sort of thing and wanted me to go with him. I seriously considered it because the sales and service lifestyle was getting old. He worked there for a couple weeks and quit because "it was too hard" and since he was an oil rig worker I figured it had to be "Wicked tough hard work." (But then I learned he was a lineman... which means he sits in a trailer most of the time watching monitors. I still kind of wish I at least gave it a try. Working the amusement park setting up rides was physically harsh but I enjoyed the hell out of it.)
That sort of thing makes me nervous as hell. A semi backing into a trailer is one thing. But those train cars connecting has that sound that makes you think about all the bad shit that can happen if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I hear it isn't that bad of a job. It's hard work, and hard hours, but for those who can survive it's a job you can be happy doing.

It is a demanding job, and especially for road crews it takes a huge toll on your personal life. We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year except during our way too short vacations. We have incredibly high divorce rates, our kids tend to be fuckups because they don't see their fathers much, and when we retire, we usually kick off within the first couple of years because we just can't adjust to not having to be on call all the time! There are perks though. It pays well, you don't need much besides a high school diploma and a somewhat clean criminal record. We get discounts on some stuff, full medical, dental, and vision insurance. They pay half of the cost of new work boots every year, and 90% of the time you never have to deal with any kind of supervision. I didn't even meet my manager for the whole first year i worked on the UP! And we get two weeks of vacation to start, and every couple years we get another week. When i return to work, i'll be eligible for three weeks of vacation time, and because of my sister's medical problems i should be able to get FMLA no problem. And if you have a cool manager, you can get away with some stuff. My old MOP, Steve Herzfeld, was awesome. He liked me, looked out for me, and even gave out turkeys to his guys for thanksgiving!

I don't know how some people can do it. It just takes special perosnalities to do special jobs. I don't think that's one I could really handle.

i'm not even a bike guy, yet i like to see these around. a friend of mine had a Honda Valkyrie with that flat six engine, that had to be one of the best sounding engines i've ever heard coming from a motorcycle. although every sunday there's a huge influx of Harley riders in Puerto Rico.

Those Honda Valkyries are nice. They're good riders with a low center of gravity, good suspension, nice engines, and enough power to play with. I knew a CHICK who went out and got one. And promptly sold it when she nearly rear ended someone and got cold feet. A friend of the tigress's, only chick I ever met who was taller than me. (1 inch)

I was in the middle of work, had to drop everything to run out and get a couple snapshots without being seen by the boss.
