Ever since Clementine’s childhood, she’s learned that nothing was permanent. Her parents divorced at a young age and both moved to their home countries: Japan and France. Clem spent most of her education switching between boarding schools in different regions of Europe and Asia, spending most of her time with her mother in Lyon, France. As she spent most of her time with her mom, she developed a strong accent when speaking anything besides French, making it difficult to learn in other languages.

Internationally travelling constantly, Clem found it difficult to make lasting relationships with her classmates and often kept to herself. While she became well versed in all sorts of cultural contexts, she still remained insecure around others. Clementine learned to prioritize her studies and sought a future with stability in all areas of her life.

When the apocalypse occured, Clementine had been attending a new school in Japan. Her 2nd year was just beginning when the undead attacked, leaving her to rot as a wraith after being bit directly on her neck. The whereabouts of her family are unknown, but after hearing that almost all of humanity was wiped out, Clem realized she didn’t have much to be hopeful about.
