I dunno. I guess it's just very majestic and dynamic, with his head held high and neck arched, with fur flying in the wind, striding purposefully and confidently toward his goals, with his tail flowing out behind him.

Yeah, true. Often when writers are asked what inspired a certain one of their books, they go "it just came to me". Or something like that.
