Jessica Rodriguez, Daughter of Ernesto and Lisa is a rare individual indeed. She is remarkably intelligent and self-motivated. Unfortunately her being “special” set her apart from her peers, while she was growing up. Until she was fifteen, her only companion was Neil, the family’s dog.
Her Academy recruiting officer called her a “shoe-in” for Command School. At age 17 she graduated from the Starfleet Academy first in class - and still holds the Academy’s record for the youngest cadet to do so.
Her first assignment aboard the USS Hood was a profound experience for the young lady who was ostracized for her remarkable intellect and drive her whole life. Here was a place where her gifts were welcomed - but she still remained socially cut off from her fellow officers and the crew. As a Lieutenant, she was transferred to the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike. Her service record aboard the Enterprise shows that her social isolation continued, although less so due to a close friendship with the First Officer.
After Rodriguez’s transfer off the Enterprise, she spent several years as a tactical instructor at Starfleet Academy. Her tenure there ended after a heated argument with a Cadet over the infamous “Kobayoshi Maru” scenario - after which she requested to be relieved of her post as an instructor and joined the crew of the USS Lexington - first as Weapons Officer and Navigator and later assuming the duties of First Officer to Commodore Robert Wesley.
A few years after, during an away mission, her party was ambushed by Orion Pirates. The ambushers were defeated, but one of her away team was injured severely in saving Commander Rodriguez’s own life - Lieutenant Jonathan Riley. The same cadet whom she argued with over the Kobayoshi Maru.
After the ill-fated war games against the USS Enterprise, Commodore Wesley stepped down as the Lexington’s commanding officer, relieved by his former First Officer: Captain Jessica Rodriguez.
The USS Lexington under the command of Captain Rodriguez is now assigned to a five-year exploration mission towards the Beta Quadrant.

Personality: Serious, assertive.
