one thing you have to admit though, it may look weird, but they can be extreamely powerful. even the champion has one of them

Pretty funny in retrospect, sure when you get Magikarp it could potencially be a great powerhouse evenmoreso in R/B..but switching it in and out to get it to level 20 was a challenge, and the Old Rod was only a few towns away...
But in B/W....
