I got my dog from a shelter. He was nine weeks old, supposed to be put to sleep next day. he is now a year, and his mom was Border collie mix. I think dad was Shiba Inu. He is reddish. Has white on nose, paws, tip of tail, chest. Name is Chandre, aka Cha Cha. I have never seen a calm one year old dog before him.

You have a lot of really beautiful photos, and I think this one is one of my favourites. Beautiful shepherd you've got there - as well as a beautiful photo!

Thanks, I am starting to take my animal work more seriously. It used to be just fun between landscapes. But dogs have always meant a lot to me, more than most people I know. The fact that you can capture their personallity is something most people miss.

As sad as that is, its true...most peopel miss the personallity underneth all that fur. But with a skillful eye you cerntailly catch it.

He's gorgeous! You've captured some great details in his soggy coat. And it's a pleasent relaxing scene too.
It makes you wonder if they really intend on catching animals or not- Then again, one of our retrievers did catch and eat a guinea pig... If Bud is ever successful, you might have a duck for dinner!

I just wish my Charlie would sit still long enough for me to take some beautiful photographs such as this. He's under 2 years of age and a cross between a Jack Russel and a Kelpie. (Kelpie's are Australian working dogs) He has so much energy and is on the go continually, chasing anything that moves.

I have been told Bud may be part Kelpie as well, the markings are right but the fur is longer. He is definately a working dog and herder by nature. I could not have set the shutter below 1/1000 anytime before Bud was 5 years old. He even runs in his sleep sometimes even to this day.

There is still hope that Charlie will slow down enentually then.

Lol, I absolutely love it. Beyond the fact that he's too cute, it's just a really damn nice shot. The composition and pose are perfect, as is the DOF, and the background of changing leaves couldn't get any better. We have guard dogs, too, that have to guard us from the frogs in the pond on our property. It seems like the frogs must be particularly dangerous in the summer, as they go on daily missions to thwart them, sometimes several times per day. Or, it could be that it's just damn hot in the summer, but nah... They're protecting us. Really. It's nice to hear that Bud's a rescue mutt. We have 5 such mutts, probably because we have a large beacon that emits from our property that says "sucker" in dog language. They somehow manage to find us without fail...

Thank You! What a nice complement. Bud and Max are SPCA strays. I have always found that street dogs are better companions. They are attentive, easily trained, and leave when you call them a cab. Umm. Wait I was thinking of something else. Never mind then. Glad the pond is safe for ape and canine alike. Tell the dogs, well done!
