I LOATHE!!!!111!11!!!1 sunset coloring. *shoots her damn foot for that challenge* Almost forgot with challenges comes THINKING, and I never was into that department.
And of course there's STILL probs with lighting somehow, but for ONCE I tried! My arms and peanuts for brains are... nuclear-fried black as of now. 
And I have NO idea what I was doing with the water.
Man, I'm tired.

Could use some more white for the foam as well as red for the reflections of the light on the water. Aside from that, great character design. If this was spiffed just a little, it would be -awesome-.

I kid, of course. ^^ Yeah, that's the thing--I'm still slow on light-sources, so I have no idea what I'm doing with light, just dumping it randomly. I'll fix it one of these days though.

i tryed doing sunset lighting once [link]
not sure if it worked but mine looks like the sun has set more i know when i was doing it i was going for darker than usual shadows
and really bright but thin lighting on their silouette
i like what you did here though the water effect looks great.
the beach not so great. id work on the shoreline a little it doesnt seem to look like its runs out into the distance.

Challenging yourself is the only way to grow
Excellent attempt at a difficult sunset. I recommend tracking down LOTS of reference pictures before you begin something completely new to you. (i.e. water/beach photos.) Keep up the good work.

You should do challenge more often, if it comes out like this! The coloring is amazing-- the sky in particular. And I like the water. Maybe not knowing what you're doing works.
But, yeah, shadows don't normally go towards the sun
