Thank you! The rasta-reference was indeed something I was aiming for. The more obvious nods and homages are to Lovecraft and Giger. I wanted Octa to be a dichotomic mixture of scary and sympathetic. Someone you might like or even adore, but likely safest so from a distance while not attracting too much attention.
