It is an amazing sketch, my I ask what kind of pencil and paper you are using. I find that pencil often does smudge and I often mess up when I try to inc the picture instead.

Oh, my pencil work does smudge very often as well. You have to make sure you cover parts you have drawn already with a clean sheet of paper, to rest your hands on, that helps (I admit, I often forget this as well...)
I do use a very thin mechanical pencil (0.3) with a H lead. I used to have 2B leads, but the softer the pencil is, the more it will smudge. I don't think it does matter what material you use as long as it feels comfortable for you, but I really love these pencils. They are made of good quality metal, are not too light and they have a good grip. I only use these nowadays:Β www.amazon.co.uk/Pentel-Graphgβ¦
For the paper, I work on very smooth hot pressed water colour paper. The smoother it is, the easier you can work out very fine details. I work on a gummed block to make sure the paper stays in place and doesn't wave. I use this brand, but there are of course cheaper ones available which are good quality as well. Just check your local art store and ask for hot pressed paper on a block. It's really great to work with! www.amazon.co.uk/Aquarelle-Arcβ¦
I hope this helps to answer your questions. Happy drawing!

Not busy enough.
Seriously.. can't hardly wait to see it colored in.
Might be sending a copy of this one overseas, woman.
I'm just saying....

I had no idea they even did tax returns over there. Β I thought we were the only country burdened with that bullshit. Β I'd give a lot for a flat tax and not have to deal with it anymore.
Anyway...
My guess is you'll do just fine when you get around to coloring it. Β I have every faith in your abilities.

It really annoyed me when it happened! I'm sure I can cover it, I just have to be careful not to spill more when I colour it.

Your uppermost Warbler looks to be very intent on that Bee in the left corner.Β This will be beautiful when complete, next time though keep the tea at a save distance.

I love all the delicate details in this piece. If it weren't for the tea stain you might consider it finished.

It is very pale in real life, I had to darken the scan down. I do like line artwork, I could indeed just ink the lines and then leave it. Hmm, so many choices! I can never decide what colours/style I want my pieces to be in.
