A little watercolor painting of Derpy. It's 7 x 10 inches in size. There are a few dark spots on the scan... it's from where the paper wrinkled a little bit. I'm pretty awful with photoshop, so I'm sorry the spots are still there...

Wowwee! Β Your watercolor work is looking fantastic. Again, the colors are bright and crisp, and I love the detail you put into Derpy's mane and tail. Β About the background...did you paint that first, or did you do it after you colored Derpy?

Thanks hon!Β I always do the background first, regardless of the media.Β For me, background is important in determining how the subject is shaded.Β Dunno if that's an actual thing about art, but it's how I like to do it. XD

You're welcome! Β I've heard of a couple of other people doing the background first, and it makes a lot of sense. Β The lighting in the background will affect how the subject is shaded.
