Description Here's a recent 3d model I've been working on... bet many of you didn't know I also do 3d, huh? Anyways, it was made from scratch in Maya, meaning no poser or other premade model programs were involved. I've been contemplating modeling felicia too and animating a catfight, no pun intended.

Thanx. I haven't opened that model in ages, been wanting to also model Felicia for some time, but haven't gotten around to it.

I love the model, although as a suggestion, I would make her eyes more sleeker and seductive, seeing as she is a succubus, after all. I hope you don't take offense to that! ;

Your texture work is very good, I take you carry across your 2d skills. How long did it take?

HecM In reply to BigZapfer [2006-10-10 17:51:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't really remember, but it was probably about three weeks for the whole thing, could do it faster these days I think... if I had the time, now I'm sad.

i'm not going to split hair on the poser/scratch artist issue- well maybe a little. People (me included) who model from scratch are pushing the limits of their own modelling prowess, where as poser users are left with pushing the limits of *composition*. Both sides can cross over, and when you break it down, it's about the eye candy- the bottom line- the product. Nice job on the pic.

Thanx for all your replies everyone... and about poser works, I do believe some people do some amazing things with poser models to create breathtaking images. However, sometimes it's a bit disapointing to click on some 3d thumbnails hoping to see some original models only to find a retouched poser model, but I do understand that most 3d packages are really expensive and hard to get.

Incredible. I'm very glad that other people out there realize that people who use poser are, well... posers 8)

It hurts us real modellers in that making a human from scratch takes a huge amount of effort for us and none for them. Can it really be called your 3D art if you use a mannequin out of the box?

Enough ranting, excellent job.

emyllsomar In reply to Tannon [2004-08-12 23:56:52 +0000 UTC]

You know you should put yourself in other peoples shoes I use poser models and come up with good stuff, not because I am not talented or because I couldn't make one in Maya or other modeling app. just because I can't afford any of them and I don't even have a good connection to download demos. I was offended by your comment because not all the modelers that use chep software i.e. (Bryce, Poser) aren't talented like you insinuated. Hope you understand where i am comming from I am not trying to start a war with this ok. Just expressing myself too.

Thnks

Granted, perhaps I chose my words too harshly. I mean no ill toward them, but you have to admit that the creation of a scene with a full human is immensly more difficult when using an application like 3D studio or Maya as opposed to using Poser.

People who know nothing of either program will tend to be more impressed with the poser work despite the fact that the other people have put far more work into the project.
