Description
I finally got around to finish this one, today. There was only the shading left, and with that new gradient technique I figured out how to do recently, I decided to try it out on her. It didn't come out as well as I had hoped, but oh well. It was harder, too, because she didn't have a one-tone coat like the chestnut Arab from before.

So, this is Annie, an American Mustang that DDS just purchased from a BLM auction. Here, she's shown right after we bought her, kind of a mess. She had cracked hooves, a bit of a potbelly from parasites, lacking a nice topline, and her coat was rather ragged. I'll maybe do an 'after' picture, so that there can be a before-and-after of her progress at the ranch.

I actually drew her a little more run-down and spiteful looking than I had originally intended, lol. I had wanted her to have a mildly wary expression only, but kind of went overboard.
I didn't add a background or anything because I'm dead! No more art for me, lol.

Phenotype: Dunalino. Coat is a sooty, creamy palomino hue with brown, fading knees and hocks, going to a paler brown at the lower limbs. with a wide blaze and three stockings. Muzzle is dark grey, and the eartips, around the eyes and genitals are grey. Hooves are dark grey, and hair is an off-white beige, somewhat greyish in certain lights. She also has two front uneven socks and a crooked, wide blaze stretching down mainly to the right side of her face, and ending on the upper lip.
Eyes: Grey-blue
Genotype: A- / EeEe / C Ccr / DD-
Height: 14.2hh
Build: Fairly small, compact, hardy, stocky, a little feral-looking, has good bone, a bit of a roman nose and 'boxy' square head, strong hooves, lacking refinement in type, powerful hindquarters, and her conformation is pretty correct for a feral horse. She also has a fair few scars across her body. Her mane and tail are also thick, long, coarse and full of tangles and burs.

Owner/trainer: ~Hazel-rah of Double Dance.
Temperament: Wary, cautious of everything around her, stern, harsh-tempered, seems a little grouchy at everyone, untrustworthy. She won't spook or take flight or attack very often, if at all, but she always seems to have her ears pinned back, and a "you're not wanted here" type of look in her eyes and posture. She doesn't really frolic merrily, play with others, or try to socialize with humans. When in training, she kind of tries to do as little as possible of you want, and always has an eye on you at all times. As soon as the session's over, she hurries to go back to her pasture, and bolts angrily away, once the lead's undone. She has the attitude of an old, seasoned lead mare, with set responsibilities, good logic, quick-thinking attributes, a wise and cunning mentality, and nothing seems to break her concentration or frame of mind. We expect she'll be a great mother, and we'll be looking for potential sires as soon as she gets a uterine exam, and her health starts to perk back up from a few farrier and vet visits!
Discipline(s): We're just trying to break her in with a western saddle, and we'll be pleased if she can be a plain trail riding/hack mount.
History: Was adopted from a BLM auction.
