Description EDIT: Wheee, here's the finished version. Is it too dark?

EDIT2: Um, I thought it was obvious since I always ask people not to, but as usual, no critique please. xD

-----

Haha, I'm sure people are reading this going "BUT WHERE IS TEH SEX?!" *Vicious Circle door-kicker flashback*

Aaaah. Okay, I'm done... x) So, back to the drawing. Ugh. I hate drawing confo shots.. The faults are so much easier to spot, lol.

So.
There ain't much that's sexier than a Canadian stud, am I right? I have a new line of Canadians coming up, and SunsetRevelation inadvertently pushed me into finalizing this lineart tonight, with our giddy Canadian talk. xD *feels like a schoolgirl* So keep your eyes peeled for their mind-blasting (not blowing) awesomeness. ;D All will be named with traditional Quebecer names, and all will be imported from QC, and (hopefully), registered in the HARPG-CHA or a similar uber Canadian association. There are actually four other Foundies, at least, expected to be 'imported' to DD stables soon (their stats have actually been written up for practically a year now, lmao.)

This guy in particular was inspired by a Canadian stud (Lorn/m Joshua Max, or something) I saw when judging a local TREC competition. Damn, he was sexy.. Had a neck like a bull, too, lol.

Registered Name: Double Dance Charbonneau
Barn Name: Beau; Charbon (meaning "Charcoal" in French)
Gender: Stallion
Y.O.B.: 1993
Breed: Canadian
Bloodline: 35% Viger; 20% Royal; 20% Lou; 15% Major; 10% St-Anne (also direct male-tail to Albert de Cap Rouge.)
Sire & Dam: Foundation (descended from Rieucafol Baron Eno)
Phenotype: Black; solid
Eyes: Warm chocolate brown
Genotype: EE/aa
Height: 16.1hh
Build: A tank. Very handsome, at that. He's no where near being a refined, long-legged and slender sporthorse. He's very true to the ancestral, "iron horse" frame of the old founding Canadians. He's in fact almost Baroque in his body type. His neck is a massive arch of rippling muscles; his body is composed of beautifully rounded shapes, a wide and stocky frame, finely chiseled good looks, and curves in all the right places. Some might seem him as atypical and too rugged for the norms of the modern types, but he's simply an ideal, old-style workhorse. He's stocky and compact yet quite big and very strong, with a shortish head, bold roman nose, wide forehead, very expressive eyes, and a thick, wavy abundance of voluminous hair. Hooves are resilient and wide, and his limbs are perfectly clean, and a little on the heavy side, with curly feathering.
Breeder: N/A
Owner/trainer: *Hazel-rah of Double Dance .
Temperament: Calm, gentle, careful not to hurt his handler or rider, very attentive of his surroundings – without being distracted –, and can sometimes seem like a workaholic... he just loves it so much! He has great trainability, and has always been willing to give it his 101% during every training session. Each time he performs, it's as if he thinks he's an 18hh Friesian performing in the Individual Dressage Olympics. Even on light trail rides through the countryside or when he's pulling the farm sleigh around in the snow, he's focused, on the bit, attentive, impulsive, etc. His favorite move is tempi changes, but he's getting quite good at pirouettes, too.
Discipline(s): Dressage; sleigh rides in the Wintertime; some driving
History: Imported from a Quebec ranch as a growing colt, he came to one of our trainers (before DD was founded) when Beau was just being broken in to pull logs in the woods and trained to stand still while the previous owner's 3-year-old niece hopped on him, bareback (He was apparently bred from a great local breeder, but we have little documentation.) Our trainer kept him until she moved in to DD stables, and brought him with her. He definitely matured into a fine specimen, and a very hardworking animal, since he knew his job was tough, by nature. It quickly became clear to us that he had a heavy penchant for dressage, however, as soon as we saddled him up. He eventually has excelled beautifully in this field, thanks to Double Dance stables' specialized training schedule and dedicated trainers. He's obviously no match for the refined and flashy warmbloods, but he has great presence, and when he steps into an arena, all eyes are automatically drawn to him. He's been pawning Locals for long enough, and so he's now starting to whoop ass in Provincials, but we're hoping to toss him into Regionals in a few years, if his age permits it. Even if he knows some of the higher level moves, such as the pirouette and half-pass, he's just no match for the judges who favor the long-legged, slim and elegant warmbloods. Still, we'd like to some day take him to Nationals, if we could. Dream big or go home!
Awards & Winnings: N/A
Offspring: N/A
Restrictions: Pure, realistic Canadians only please (DevNote me to discuss otherwise.)
Availability: Currently available for private leases.

Why is it exactly that Canadians are traditionally given French names?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hazel-rah In reply to xXNamaste [2010-01-29 18:34:38 +0000 UTC]

Well, not all do, but many are named with French names because the breed descends from France-imported horses (during colonization of the New World and all), and because they originate primarily from the Quebec region, which is predominantly French-speaking.

At least that's my theory.

Well, your theory happens to be right.
This from a native Quebecer (and owner of a Canadian horse, albeit unregistered).

Thanks!
