This looks amazing! You did a great job, however, like MrThesaurus already said below, it's a lot lighter than the reference, and might look even better if you added more contrast and made it darker ^^

Ocelots are such cool animals and you did an amazing job of drawing one as well!
If I were to suggest anything, though, don't be afraid to color darker! The reference picture has a lot of dark shadows going on. Be careful, though and make sure that you always start with the light colors and gradually move to darks.
Experiment, play around, keep up the great work!

Thanks, this was the first of this set of drawing that I did, so the ones later have much more depth in the shadows.

so very good - just a bit lighter than the original but that doesnt matter at all...

Happy5art In reply to MedeaSafir [2014-04-14 10:20:56 +0000 UTC]

Yer, I think I was too excited about doind the next pic I wanted to draw to properly get all the depth in this one. I might go back to it at some point and make it a bit better

MedeaSafir In reply to Happy5art [2014-04-14 10:47:29 +0000 UTC]

doesnt matter if you leave it the way it is - makes the object more clear

It's so cute. If not for the background, I'd almost believe it was a photo of the animal.

Another lovely piece, I particularly like how you caught Billys long whiskers in this one! Thanks for using my work and crediting it

Happy5art In reply to Alannah-Hawker [2013-11-11 14:10:17 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I love doing details like whiskers, they were quite hard to do 'cos it's on textured paper rather than nice flat paper so I couldn't indent the whiskers and shade over them (if that makes any sence). It's such a beautiful photo I couldn't resist having a go at it

Happy5art In reply to Snow-katt [2013-11-03 13:58:11 +0000 UTC]

If you want bendable pencils simply hold them in the middle and move it up and down quickly and it looks like it bends! good for amusing small children and strange nutters like me

Snow-katt In reply to Happy5art [2013-11-04 16:03:34 +0000 UTC]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Happy5art In reply to Snow-katt [2013-11-03 13:25:23 +0000 UTC]

Sure, it's suposed to say blendable not bendable (I'm quite rubish at spelling).
They're Derwent Studio pencils and the colours blend together, so they mix together.
I'll go sort out my spelling now
