Description

Citrakayah is a word in ancient Sanskrit which means "variegated body". This is the way the ancients called one of the most beautiful animals on the planet and it is also the origin of the word Cheetah in modern English.

Hi. Today is December 4th, the International Cheetah Day. On this day every year artists from around the globe unite and publish their Cheetah-related art here, on dA, in an effort to raise awareness about the species' critical necessity of protection for sake of one simple thing - survival.

As some of you surely know, Cheetahs are a remarkable member of the Big Cat family, unique among its cousins, and also the fastest land animal on Earth. Some of you may also know that it is an endangered species with a world population of only 10-12 thousands. They need protection in order to survive. It is up to us.

Read more about Cheetahs on the Cheetah Concervation Fund official site.

This is so pretty, especially the depth in the eyes.

You've got some really great drawing and this one is my favorite. The light is the eyes really makes it I also like how the background is covered with spots too! Good work!

I again really like the face, I think you're absolutely great with drawing eyes. They're really nice!

The only thing that distracts me a bit is the white mark on the neck, but I noticed your reference has the same white spot due to slight overexposure. Nonetheless it's not really that distracting since I keep looking at those eyes

I think the eyes are most important and I devote my special attention to them.

Yes, I can see what you mean. This is partially because of the scanning, it doesn't seem so bright on the original. But then perhaps it makes the cheetah stand out from the background better.

Thank you, once more, I am very glad you enjoy my cheetah drawings

Cheetahs are wonderful animals. You really caught the beauty of the animal and I really love the attention you put in the details, although i must say that the eyes stand out the most. They are almost life-like. Great work there!

Indeed, the eyes are the mirrors of the soul as they say, and they really deserve special attention when drawing.
