Description Oils on linen
14 x 11"
1986

I owed our family physician some $380.00 and didn't have it. I suggested I do an oil portrait of his daughter and son. Went to his house and took photographs of them. The plain background with a step-climbing tree are invented. I'm sure I'll find the photo of the oil painting of his daughter some day when I'm looking for something else. In it, I included in the background my own rendition of one of my favorite paintings, Carel Fabritius' "The Goldfinch" [link]

Also I threw in for the Dr. and his wife both of my working drawings in pencil. I do not have those.

Ohh I love how you played with the lightning and all.
And wow, in situations like those it's when it's totally handy to be an artist

This is fantastic! I think your doctor got a deal. I would say this one alone would have paid the debt. Great idea to pay your doc with artwork. I can't afford to have dental work done, so I might try this method of payments.

Thank you Karin.

Looking at your work I'd think if your dentist is an art lover and yours in particular, you'd have a good chance at this method.
