thanks... for this lights I usually use photoshop "vivid light" brush mode. you can test it - create new image, fill it dark brown color, pick white(little yellow) color, chose soft brush and set flow to 10%, change brush mode to vividlight and try draw on your brown layer... - you must get something gold (as light saber)
for shadows I used sample brush, but many artist used "multiply" mode of PS brush
