God Eater + Metroid = Metroid Eater.Hmm... so this won 's Genre redesign contest! That was certainly unexpected; I thought my other piece "Metroid Hunter" ( deityofshadows.deviantart.com/… ) would fare better overall. Nonetheless, I'm very happy and this redesign was fun to do. Samus in general is fun to redesign! Thanks everyone!
Origins: On the offhand comment from DemonRyo , I ended up redesigning Samus in a different fashion. Street clothes Samus: I tried my best to translate all her Varia Suit motifs into an entirely different context-- jacket, beret, goggles, boots. You'll also note there are two variations in her color scheme-- without and without stockings, black or earthy orange (varia inspired) boots. Which do you prefer?
Her weapon is based on God Eater's tri weapon design. It can transform from sword to gun to shield. The devouring form fittingly is shaped like a metroid. It was that or a Chozo head, but metroid seems more appropriate.
Overall, though it's not as flashy as the boxart design of Metroid Hunter, I rather like this piece because of its drastic departure in her design. I hope it turned out well.

Looks like Metal Slug Samus! Nice redesign. Personally, I prefer the version without the stockings--with all the art from Zero Mission, Fusion, and Super Metroid of her in shorts, stockings were never really Samus's thing. I love the hat, but I'd take off the extra hair loops going from the side to the back and just put her hair in a low ponytail. The tattoo and wristlojackamater are nice touches, too.

Also, thanks for your opinion on the stockings or no stockings. I initially figured she'd have stockings because Samus wouldn't regularly show off too much skin... but then again there is her various zero suits. The stockings are also partially reference to Makise Kurisu from an unrelated anime, "Steins;Gate." Also, the hair feedback is useful: low vs high ponytail? I didn't consider that til now.
My personal favorites are her jacket and beret hat-- which translates well to her helmet-- so I'm glad you agree. Lastly, "wristlojackamater" is hilarious. It's a wristband used in God Eater to harness to powers of their weapons in the context of that game. It matches well with her arm cannon too.

"Wristlojackomater" was from Futurama, when Leela used her wrist-thinger to track a document as it traveled through the beaurocratic headquarters. The fact that I know and remember that speaks volumes on how much of a life I have.

It's like Monster Hunter in that regard: fun, addictive loot/weapon-grinding, challenging, and also more enjoyable in teamplay. I wouldn't call it pointless.

Monster hunter is more attractive in my opinion...i mean while in GEB you don't have to think too much in MH you have to think alot about your moves, strategies and so on. GEB is more like a "GO AND SMASH THAT THING!" XD
About the pointless thing it's because the quests are quite the same, MH have some variations
But yeah, in multiplayer is more fun to play^^

Agreed. I personally prefer MH for similar reasons but that's not to say the "hack'n'slash" style of GEB is not without its merits.
