Same here. I want Fate/Prototype to happen. I like this version of King Arthur, prefer him more as a guy. Not to mention the rest of the characters look badass and the story itself...is off the hook.Β

Funny thing is that mixing both the final Fate Stay Night VN and Fate prototype with Ayaka as the protagonist.
Shirou would be a mix between both his FSN incarnations (Shirou/EMIYA) along with shifting him into a lesser role (possibly as an established modern day superhero rather than a master of the grail war). He'd also piss off archer (Gilgamesh) due to him being a faker.

Joan of Arc makes an appearance in Fate/Apocrypha as a Ruler-class Servant, if that's any consolation.

I agree. I think Ayaka makes the better protagonist, she may lack any confidence but at least she's not as pathetic in combat as Shiro. I guess to the people who were making it, it seemed too much like a shojou manga with Archer and Saber falling in love with Ayaka. It's so cruel of Type-Moon to show that awesome clip and giving details on the characters and not make an anime or manga about it.
Somethings I like about Prototype better is that:
1. King Arthur is a guy and not a cross-dresser
2. Lancer's outfit doesn't look as gay
3. The protagonist can actually fight
4. Gilgamesh's outfit look more suitable to his origin as aΒ MesopotamianΒ king

For making it a generic action/shoujo flick maybe.
Nasu is by no means an excellent writer, but he did create some wonderfully complex and multidimensional characters and a universe with a lot of potential.
... Except where it concerns laws of physics in some places.

Action/shoujo is still less used than action/shounen/harem
As Fate/Stay Night turned out becoming.

ColinatorGX In reply to Gunjester [2013-05-16 18:48:34 +0000 UTC]
And you just showed you do not know FSN as well as you think you do.
Apart from some scenes in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, which isn't canon by virtue of the actual plot (it's complicated), the Fate franchise isn't harem at all, doofus. ^c^
And do note, I never disputed that its genres of action/fantasy aren't common, I just pointed out that character-wise, there's a lot of places where it has much more depth than what we're used to seeing.
Also, Fate hardly qualifies as shounen, with how cynical some of the routes can get.

Duh...I still don't like Shirou. Just...misunderstand him. At everything. I don't want to harm someone's feelings, but for me he's the worst anime Main char ever. Lancer Y U NO KILL HIM!?
"Why the f*ck didn't he just use Joan of Arc?" - yeah, me too. Besides, Joan of arc really look like Saber in type moon universe. >_>

Gunjester In reply to 7Eule7 [2012-11-16 13:55:47 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, well in Unlimited Blade Works he's not totally incompetent, he actually defeats both Archer and Gilgamesh; and Shirou is a character everyone hates because he represents the majority of male Anime fans, a bunch of boys who want to be heroes despite being highly incompetent in combat arts. (Majority doesn't necessarily mean you or me.)
As for Joan vs. Saber, pretty sure they just like the look they came up with for Saber, and couldn't get rid of it, plus Saber is kind of an Arthurian mix between Joan of Arc and Mulan...ah well.

7Eule7 In reply to Gunjester [2012-11-16 16:27:32 +0000 UTC]
Nah! He still sucks. They just made his battle vs Gilgamesh really weird. It's more weird than if Gil hang himself because Saber chosen Shirou >_>
He represents these movie girls who attack Big bad drunk bikers by jumping on their back and kicking them with a fancy-bag XD
It's not I have something against those who like him. Just personal opinion.

I don't like him. But your comparison is my exact point, because that's what most overly-heroic people amount to, they can try and stop the baddies all they want, but being foolhardy and self-sacrificial doesn't make a badass, and I'm pretty sure that's the point of Shirou.
I don't like him as a person or as a character necessarily, but I like the concept, it's like a slap in the face to all the people with delusions on what it is to be a hero; like me, I used to be like that, then i saw this series and it and Fight Club helped me come to that realization.

I agree actually. v.v I love fate/stay Night and fate/zero, the concept of a female King Arthur is an interesting and unique twist that plays a lot with the relationships of Arthur's, or Arturia's, past (Guinevere's affair with Lancelot, Morgan, Mordred, etc). I also really like the spin they took with Gilgamesh as an Archer, it being more of a projectile anything-goes thing rather than the standard bow-and-arrow thing fate/prototype did.
HOWEVER.
The story of a King Arthur and a young modern sorceress, linking somehow to the choirs of angels as well as the Holy Grail, etc....sounds perfectly fantastic! Really, as interesting as I find Saber, as much as I kind of look up to her as a female role model to a degree, I wish she stayed as a he, you know?
Still, choices were made, others were left behind. There're many pluses to the story, so this is really a small regret.

If you liked the anime, I think it's important to point out that the whole thing was NOTHING compared to its original form as a visual novel. Heck, compared to the VN, the anime is nothing more than a barely adequate PRIMER. The sheer depth of the characters and the twists and turns to the plot combined with epic music and visuals just... blows... your... MIND. If they wanted to match that as an anime, they'd need 3 seasons of 40+ episode seasons, one for each of the game's three routes. If you'd like, I could point out where to find it or a playthrough with voice-overs by the anime cast.
And yes, Archer is GODLY.

Wall of text visual novels really aren't my thing. BlazBlue is the one exception, as it's also a fighting game, and you don't need background material to beat the stuffing out of one of the absolutely insane characters in the BlazBlue universe.

Please do show me.
Though don't underestimate Nasu Kinoko, I'm sure if Fate/Prototype was the style they went with, it would still be an insanely good VN or Anime.
I just was always pissed off they Gender-Bended Arthur for no reason...Joan of Arc would've at least made sense.

In the interest of giving you options, I've got two links, both in English:
fsn.seorinwastaken. com /archive/
Just remove the spaces. This is a readable version that walks through the game's routes. It's good if you want to read the novel at your own pace. Key scenes are linked as movies for the extra touch of EPIC.
www.youtube.com/ user/ XerBlade?feature=g-user-c
This guy on youtube has a version that has dialogue voiceovers in Japanese from the anime cast for almost the entire novel (and WOW is it awesome). He has the prologue and the three routes as convenient playlists for your watching enjoyment. You may have to pause the video to read the screen at times, though. If you got time, this is GODLY and my highest recommendation short of buying the novel.
If you want to find the actual game to download, that's a little tougher, but doable and I know where to find the English translation patch, too.
