Day 05 of 13 Nights gives us Destroyah, no that is not a typo. It could be Toho had trouble getting the copyright for Destroyer. This pic represents the 5th and final form of the monster. The Heisei period that started with Biollante, ended with Destroyah. Eh depends on who you talk to. I am not a stickler. Heisei applies to an era started on 8 January 1989, the first day after the death of the reigning Emperor, Hirohito. It's not an exclusive Kaiju term.
So technically since Biollante was released in 1989 it would be considered the 1st release of a Godzilla film during the Heisei Era.
But since Return of Godzilla aka Godzilla 1985 set much of the tone for the Heisei Era Godzilla films it usually gets thrown in.
That's my rudimentary knowledge of such things.

True that, but then again Godzilla 1985 could be considered a part of both the Showa and Heisei series at once (it was released just as the Showa era in Japan was ending (just barely), and it's considered a sequel to the original Godzilla), but it did set the Heisei era in motion.
Likewise Gamera Super Monster was the only film in the entire Gamera series to be released in the 1980s, yet it felt like all the other Showa films (sans the 1st film due to stock footage), the only new thing they added in was a Star Destroyer rip-off in Zannon, while also ripping off iconic anime such as Space Battleship Yamato.

Still can't understand why King Ghidorah is Godzilla's nemesis and not him

Ghidorah has made multiple appearances in the Godzilla series he was just as famous as the Big G himself so Ghidorah earned his spot, Destroyah only made 1 film appearance, Spacegodzilla and Mechagodzilla should be tossed into the conversation as well, as they also gave Godzilla a hard time as well.

Because he was a modified version of Super Godzilla from Space.
Be thankful they didn't have the same Mechagodzilla from the previous film brought back or it would have been a Godzilla 3-way.

Technically, it is a typo. It's Destoroyah in English and Destroyer in Japanese, but you knwo how the translators just heard "Destoroyah" so yep. Like Gojira to Godzilla

Well, yeah. How could I not? It makes Destoroyah look even more badass. I mean, she (i like to call it she since the groans and screeches sound like a girl to me) looks like she's making an entire city burn while the world ends! But I gotta say the Fire Rodan one is my favorite so far. Probably since it kinda makes me think of an old zombie movie poster the way he's painted. Imagine an undead Rodan terrorizing the city. I find that idea somewhat interesting.

Thanks for the kind words. Do not beat yourself up. This year I did not PAINT a painting a day. I just POSTED one each day. Each piece is anywhere from 6-12 hours of time.

LMAO!!! Ok good to know, still there are many guys here on DA who can bust out a painting a day. My average picture (pencils, inks, colors) takes me a good 3 days to do...Im slow.

King Ghidorah, Destroyah and Space Godzilla. All Kaiju that constantly fight for the title of Godzilla's true arch-nemesis (not counting Kiryuu since he's an anti-hero now.)
