Description

The old god screamed. Defiance peppered its loss, a tribute to a world so long gone by it was a dream to mortals. Six times it brought mankind back into the world. He had been adored then. Loved and given sacrifices in homage to his benevolent greatness. The descendants were still there, in this aging land. But they were no longer at his temples. No more sacrifices and payers. He was remembered only in stories, many not even correct.

They forgot him. They’re god, they’re protector and savior. And the pain of it infuriated him. What was a god without the adoration of mortals? So Quetzal shrieked his anger into the barren ruins of his once voluminous glory. All impotent, he railed against his temple’s collapse. Mankind would tremble in their dreams, even if they forgot Quetzal Coatl. For that was all he had left.

Traditional sketch scanned into Corel X3. Took about 10-20 hours of work. Used reference photos of the Quetzal bird for the feathers and lots of pictures of the Andes Mountains and Aztec/Mayan temples. The face was inspired by some temple statues I found in one of the photos.
