Description My first drypoint etching in over seven years. I had a lot of bad experiences with any and all intaglio in college, and subsequently stuck to relief.
This piece, originally sketched out while waiting for an early morning flight this past winter, represents a major breakthrough for me as far as technical development goes. It's amazing what I've retained and learned after being away from the studio for so long...

God, your use of line is astounding. In such light ways, too. I adore drypoint, though, so I can see what it took to accomplish this. Nice work. ; )

Thanks - In my work, drypoint = pencil. Pencil, in the right hand, with the right touch can achieve wonderfully subtle marks. The same is true of a metal plate.
With that in mind, are you/have you ever worked with zinc or copper intaglio? Most folks are in to clear acrylic (Plexi).

Yeah, I don't ever remember working with plexi since way back in highschool. All through college I worked exclusively in copper and (mostly) in zinc. I think I tried a polyester plate once, but didn't like it.

I really like the way you scratched it...it gives a fast and light impression.

I understand what you mean - Sometimes one needs to get away from a process for a while.
