Description
With 2020 almost approaching and already being one year since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s release, there is still one new character left unrevealed in the Fighter’s Pass being number 5. So far we have had Joker from Persona 5, The Heroes from Dragon Quest, Banjo and Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie and Terry from Fatal Fury. So who could the next fighter be? Guess we’ll find out soon, though hate to be a very spoilt person, but I hope it’s a character I have wanted in Smash for a while now. With my last few wanted characters since the Wii U and 3DS era of Smash I have wanted Daisy, King K. Rool, and Banjo to join since they now have in Ultimate while others such as Waluigi, Krystal, Chibi-Robo, Tetra, Eevee and many others only made it as Assist Trophies, Poke Ball Pokémon, Spirits or Mii Costumes and I’m on the side that those things de-confirmed them as Playable Fighters instantly until the possibility of a new Smash game a couple of years for now since I think there is no way Masahiro Sakurai or anyone on his staff team could make them from unplayable to playable this time around. Here today I give you all the 3.0 version of my Character requests for Ultimate and with any luck could be the 5th Fighter Pass DLC or a later one as Nintendo has confirmed that we will be getting more DLC Fighters after this. So I am going to go through my reset of top 10 Video Game All-Stars along with their respective series being somehow bought into Smash and what they style of fighting and gimmicks could bring to a lot of fans including myself. Most of them are from games that have not yet been incorporated to Smash while some have already had their series did but had not yet appeared in a playable or non-playable state.
Number 10: Kite
Originating from one of Bandi Namco’s franchise back in the early 2000’s when it was still Bandi, .hack was series that revolves around a fiction online video game call “The World” and the main character you play as in the first four .hack game is Kite who is the avatar of the unseen person playing as him from the real world. His story goes as his first time playing the online game where he and another player called Orca stumble upon a girl in white named Aura being chased by a monster named Skeith who Data Drains Orca while putting his real world player into a coma as it is reviled that others had also been put in the same position by Skeith. As Kite looks into this matter while playing “The World”, he is given the Book of Twilight which then grants him the Twilight Bracelet which grants him two abilities with one being Data Drain to alter data in “The World” such as turning a corrupted Data Bug monster with infinite hit points back to normal which can then be defeated instantly while the other ability is Gate Hacking, which allows Kite to break through barriers set up inside “The World’s” system. Kite would then use this given power to rid Skeith and the other seven Phases of the Cursed Wave he would come across in the of four .hack games while also joined by party members such as BlackRose, Balmung, Mia, Elk and others as they form the group known as the .hackers. Since then, Kite has also made other appearances in other .hack games while a mysterious version of him known as Azure Flame Kite or sometimes called Tri-Edge appears as a recurring boss in .hack//G.U while both characters appear in .hack//Link and later on in the Project X Zone games is where I learned about the .hack series from. Since then I’ve taken an interest in Kite and watched a walkthrough of the .hack games while also coming across info on the fact it also had a set of novals, mungas and animes. If Kite was in Smash, he’d be a dual-weapons wielding fighter with his Twin Blade swords like Pit and Dark Pit with their weapons. He can also use the Data Drain ability as one of his many special moves to weaken the status of any fighter he uses it on. To me I think it be really cool to have a character from a video game in a video game to be put into Smash. Plus he’d be another of those PlayStation game only guests that have been bought into Smash like with Cloud, Snake, Joker and many other 3rd parties who had been there and done that.
Number 9: Haken Browning
Another one of Bandi Namco’s franchise are the Super Robot Wars games or sometimes called Super Robot Taisen in a few areas. And if I was to pick a characters from that franchise, I’d go with Haken who is the male protagonist from Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier which is a spin-off to the Super Robot Wars: Original Generation series and was developed by Monolith Soft who many of you are well aware that they made the Xenoblade Chronicles games for Nintendo. Anyway, Haken is a cool, chivalrous, yet slightly perverted bounty hunter Lost Herencia which is one of the worlds of the Endless Frontier and wields two weapons. The Night Fowl customized rifle with a built-in partisan-like attachment, and Longtomb Special, a long-barreled handgun. On Haken’s adventures he is joined by his android subordinate Aschen Brodel and other casts including a few gust characters that were made by Bandi Namco and Monolith Soft as they come across many foes including Mechas which are called Karakuri and one of them being called the Phantom or Gespenst however you would call it. Now Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier was something I wish I could have taken interest in long ago and got for my Nintendo DS, unfortunately where I live it was never released there and only in Japan and America did the game came out there, though I was able to watch a walkthrough of it quite recently. Hawken would be an interesting character for Smash if it’s possible, plus he’s the closest we got whose game was released on a Nintendo handheld he would be another representative for both Bandi Namco and Monolith Soft besides Pac-Man and Shulk separately. He could with the Night Fowl be a heavyweight fighter using close range jabs and exploding attacks while also using his playing cards like projectiles for both offence and defence a gimmick he would have is one we have not had since Brawl and that’s switching places with a different character and that being the Phantom. In his game’s story Haken manages to get the Phantom on his side and would summon it into battle to attack enemies. In Smash he could switch places with it which a little different to how Zelda back then could turn into Sheik or after Samus uses her Final Smash which would revert her into Zero Suit Samus. The Phantom would be heavyweight with tough defence but with less jump rate though it would use its jet boosters on its back to fly as one of its special moves.
Number 8: Kasumi
One of the few companies that Nintendo has not represented a playable character from there is Koei Tecmo even though they did bought in an Assist Trophy and Spirits of characters from Fatal Frame. A lot of people wish for mostly Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden to join, but who I would mostly want joining Smash Bros is Kasumi, the main protagonist of the fighting game series, Dead or Alive. Kasumi is a ninja whose a former member of the Mugen Tenshin clan who ran away to avenge her brother Hayate while being persuade by her half-sister Ayane as punishment for leaving due to their sacred vows. This would then lead her into the Dead or Alive tournament which is a fighting competition held by DOA Tech in which unknown to the public is a conspiracy in order to create perfect weapon from the fighter who would win which in the end turns out to be Kasumi after defeating Raidou and being captured which lead to the creation of Kasumi α, a modified clone of Kasumi as part of DOA Tech’s Project Alpha created by Victor Donovan, the series main antagonist. Since then, Kasumi, along with Ayane, Hayabusa, Hayate and many other characters had come into conflict with DOA Tech and taking part in many of their tournaments… while on some occasions Kasumi and many of the female characters take a nice summer vacation in a sports spin-off called Dead or Alive: Xtreme. Dead or Alive is very similar to other fighting games such as Street Fighter and Fatal Fury as characters from those said games have already been represented into Smash with Ryu, Ken and Terry as playable characters and I wish for Kasumi to join as well with her own fighting style while also using moves from the Ninja Gaiden games as she appeared as a playable in those games as well. Plus, we need more female characters to join the fight; mostly those who are protagonists.
Number 7: Joule Adams
Next I have and would like to talk with you all on a character from a western title. I was so happy that we got Banjo and Kazooie into Smash Ultimate as a Microsoft rep and I keep finding people talking about other characters such as Halo’s Master Chief or Minecraft’s Steve in joining, but unlike them, my pick for a character with interesting skills is Joule Adams from ReCore which was released on Xbox One and was said to have been made by the creators of the Metroid Prime series. It focuses on a post-apocalyptic event set 1000s of years where Joule wakes up with her robot dog Mack on the planet known as Far Eden where it was planned to be colonised by the last remaining ruminants of the human race after Earth was destroyed. As Joule and Mack search the planet to find out what’s going on, they come across rouge Corbots lead by Victor who are after the Prismatic Cores in which Joule could hear voice from. Along the way, they would meet two other Corbots being Seth and Dunkun as well as another human survivor named Kai and a tiny Corebot named Violet. Since then I had taken interest in this game and feels fun and different to play, plus having Joule would also be a great choice in my opinion. She would fight using her Energy Rifle, Extractor Hook and Jet Boots while her most main gimmick of fighting, is her three Corbot companions by her side. This could work in a similar way to both the Pokémon Trainer and Rosalina & Luma. Joule would only have one of her Corbots out and fighting alongside her and will be able to switch them for another as well as giving them a command to attack or come back to her side if far away from her. This would be cool way of fighting as I would love it if this heroine was our second Microsoft rep.
Number 6: Akira Howard/ Legionis
The newest character made for Nintendo by PlatinumGames is the protagonist of Astral Chain, a futuristic action-adventure beat’em-up game that is set in the year 2078 where humanity is on the brink of extinction. The remnants of the human race have retreated to an airborne city called The Ark which rests on a massive, artificial island. The world is under attack by interdimensional lifeforms called the Chimeras, which come from the Astral Plane. They cause destruction, drag civilians into the Astral Plane and spread red matter that corrupts living things and humans. To combat the Chimeras, the "Neuron" Police Task Force is employed and utilize Legions; subservient Chimeras that have been tethered to an officer via a psychic chain, utilizing them for combat and investigation. The player assumes the role of one of two twins, who both join Neuron as new recruits. The player selected character has a custom identity, whereas their opposite-gender sibling becomes "Akira Howard". The two twins were adopted by the current Neuron Captain, Maximilian Howard. Other characters include Neuron Commander and scientific genius Yoseph Calvert; Chief Medical Officer and scientist Brenda Moreno; fellow veteran officers Alicia Lopez and Jin Wong who assist the players on the field; Neuron Dispatcher and former TV newscaster Olive Espinosa; and the Neuron Office Manager Marie Wentz. The Neuron officers are also assisted by a hacker named Harold "Hal" Clark, who pilots a modified field drone. Ever since I saw Astral Chain got announced I just had to try it out and man it was the best I had ever played in 2019 and I do hope we get a sequel to this game. Now the way the Legionis could work in Smash is for regular attacks by using their baton or gun while also summoning the five different Legions they use in the game being Sword, Arrow, Arm, Beast and Axe with all of them having a unique set of moves for the player. And if push to a limit, they will be able to perform the fusion with their legion, giving their attacks an extra boost for a short set of time. Man I hope Astral Chain gets into Smash!
Number 5: Adeleine and Ribbon
So far the only characters we gotten from Nintendo’s Kirby series are Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede and a lot of people mostly wish for Bandana Waddle Dee to join Super Smash Bros to complete the main team. Fun as it sounds though, the Kirby characters I would want to join are Adeleine and Ribbon from Kirby 64. Adeleine first appeared under the name of Ado from Kirby Dreamland 3 as a boss who was taken over by a Dark Matter spore and again in Kirby 64 except afterwards she joins Kirby and friends on a quest to Ribbon collect the Crystal Shards. Now the other character Ribbon, who appeared in Kirby 64, is a fairy from the planet Ripple Star which was then attack by the Dark Matter who were after a powerful crystal owned by the fairies as the Fairy Queen tasks Ribbon to flee with the Crystal as Dark Matter spores gave chase as she escapes and unfortunately shatter the Crystal into 74 pieces throughout the galaxy while she and a few of the shards land on Pop Star and meet Kirby who Ribbon then asks him to help collect the shards and save her world to which the little hero of Dreamland was happy to accept. Both Adeleine and Ribbon where playable in Kirby 64 but only in certain parts of the game being the multiplayer Sub-games for Adeleine while Ribbon is partly playable in helping Kirby in the final boss battle against 02 (Zero Two or Zero2.) Since then the two characters have not returned until years later in Kirby Star Allies as Dream Friends as well as playable pair at the time of the game’s post-launch. Ever since then after other Kirby characters who I thought could be suited for Smash, this girl duo is who I would not mind the most joining in on the roster as they are the only Kirby characters so far who have not yet appeared as Spirits or as Assist Trophies; making it possible that there may still be a chance for this pair. As playable fighters, Adeleine would be the one taking on opponents with her paint and art skills that could work a little similar to the gimmick of the Inklings who spray wet paint on fighters to weaken them while Ribbon helps with extra minutes of flying and using her Crystal Gun for aerial attacks. I know Mr. Sakurai that he did not wish to include many of his own creations with the Kirby series being one of them as he wishes to only represent characters from others in Smash, but I would say one or two more could be alright if it’s okay with him, so if you’re hearing this Mr. Sakurai, please let these two join Smash Bros.
Number 4: Linkle
Next up is a part Zelda and part Warriors character belong to the Legend of Zelda spin-off developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja while published by Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, Hyrule Warriors. The character who I’d be happy to join is Linkle, a new character who was bought into the game’s post-launch as well as the remastered version of the game, Hyrule Warriors Legends. In one of the game’s stories, Linkle was a young woman who lives in a small village of Hyrule where she takes care of Cuccos as a shepherd. Since she was little, she believes herself to be the reincarnated hero of legend because she believes that the symbol that proves it is the compass given to her by her grandmother, which has been passed down for generations. When she heard the news about Hyrule Castle being attacked by an army of monsters, she sets out on a journey to save the kingdom, donning a green outfit, equipped with her two crossbows while also bring her Cuccos along the way. On her adventure she has a habit of getting herself lost easily and is bad at directions, despite owning a compass and a map. In her early development, Linkle was originally designed as a female version of Link and was also proposed to be his little sister, but the idea was scrapped due to Eiji Aonuma not wanting her to conflict with Aryll from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Wake which was explained in an art book of Hyrule Warriors which showed a concept art of her before her debut in Hyrule Warriors Legends. Since then, Linkle has gain so much popularity, even Mr. Aounma has kept in mind the possibility of including her in future Zelda games to which I hope that happens as so far some fans have even made a mod of Linkle for Breath of the Wild with customised outfits seen on YouTube. Because of her popularity, I would wish for her to join Super Smash Bros as being a rep for both Nintendo and Koei Tecmo as she can fight with her twin crossbows as well as her Winged Boots for kicking combo.
Number 3: Amaterasu
So far this is my only Capcom rep who I feel would make a good edition to joining Super Smash Bros, plus is also one of my non-human picks for the series. I know we have had already Mega Man, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and Resident Evil being represented in Smash with playable characters, Assist Trophies, bosses and spirits, I would love this beautiful creature to perform some art as a playable fighter. That right! Amaterasu from Okami. Set in the world known as “Nippon,” it tells the story of how the land was saved from darkness by the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu, who took on the form of a white wolf and was once known as Shiranui who 100 years ago fought the dreaded demon Orochi alongside the warrior known as Nagi who sealed the beast away in a cave. In the present, Orochi was somehow set free once again and had begun sapping the life from Nippon. The wood spirit and guardian of Kamiki Village, Sakuya calls forth Amaterasu from her slumber and asks her to help remove the curse that was covering the land while accompanied by the tiny bug-sized artist, Issun. Throughout her travels, Amaterasu uses the power of the Celestial Brush that helps her and Issun in solving puzzles, defeating enemies and more as these skills are given to her by Celestial Brush Gods who are inspired by the animals of the Chinese zodiac, but that’s not all as she can also fight enemies with her drums, chains and swords that she gains from item shops or sometimes defeating a boss. When I learned and played this game, it was something that I so much enjoyed that I was able with such hard work was able to 100% complete the whole game before the final boss battle. Since then, Amaterasu is someone who looks and would have great potential in joining Smash and could use those Celestial Brush techniques as special moves or smash attacks. Though at this point, I can only hope for her chances in the future.
Number 2: KOS-MOS
Now this is a Bandi Namco character who is also owned by Monolith Soft that I would love to be bought into Smash’s light besides Kite and Haken. KOS-MOS is an armoured android combat with an artificial intelligence to fight a hostile inter-dimensional alien race called the Gnosis. In Xenosaga, she is the co-protagonist of the video game trilogy alongside the main protagonist Shion Uzuki who was once the Chief Engineer of Vector Industries as part of the Galaxy Federation’s Zohar Project. Throughout the game’s story, Shion, KOS-MOS and many other characters who they meet along the way get caught up into a conspiracy by the mysterious Ormus which was an ancient religious cult secretly led by Wilhelm who was also the founder of Vector Industries and seeks the Zohars’ power to control all of humanity in the Universe while also using the Gnosis to do so. Now my pick on KOS-MOS and why I would love her to join Smash is because when I learned a little about from Project X Zone which was developed by Monolith Soft, I decided to watch a walkthrough of Xenosaga Episode 1 and it truly caught my interest with the setting, characters and plot points, even the battle system showed off some stuff even with KOS-MOS who has a set of weaponry that makes her a unique fighter. Since then, she has been what some people would call the “Crossover Queen” as she appears in other titles such as Namco X Capcom, Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier, Project X Zone 1, 2 and Nintendo’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2 where it re-introduces her as a type of Blade for the playable characters. I did her on the unfortunate downfall since Xenosaga Episode 2 which was criticized for the character’s newly realistic-looks and battle system, but Episode 3 made up for that years later as well as giving off a satisfying ending for the trilogy. Wish I could play Xenosaga even a long time ago if I had the chance, but unfortunately it was another game that did not make it to my home country. With some what appears to be recent leaked info, KOS-MOS might be our next fighter as her set of weapons would make her a great addition to Smash so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her inclusion.
Number 1: Sakura Shinguji
The last character I like to join for Smash is a SEGA rep. Since we have Sonic the Hedgehog who was my most favourite to join since Brawl before Bayonetta for Wii U & 3DS and Joker for Ultimate who’s also Atlus ownership, the other SEGA character I mostly would like to join is Sakura Shinguji from the Sakura Wars video games. The series is a battlefield strategy JRPG with also a dating system as you take the role of the game’s main male protagonist while joined by a group of young female characters. The first Sakura Wars was released on the SEGA Satan in Japan and it story is set in a fictional version of the 1920s in Tokyo during a steampunk era and begins with Ichiro Ogami of the Imperial Japanese Navy being transferred to the Imperial Combat Revue, a secret combat unit based in Tokyo at the Imperial Theatre which consists of a group of young actresses called the Flower Division with Sakura Shinguji being the latest recruit who was also the first to meet Ogami. While performing on stage is the group’s daily work, it turns out to also be their training to control their spiritual powers they would use later in battle to defend Tokyo against demon forces while piloting steam-powered armor called Koubu. The aim of the games was for Ogami to form and level up bonds with the other Flower Division members during dating simulations which helps unlocking special moves he can use with them before a battle as this has been ongoing since the first game to the newly 6th title Project Sakura Wars. At the end of the game depending who the player had Ogami in a romantic relationship with, an animated ending will play off showing Ogami and the member he made love with. To me, the more in-cannon relationship Ogami would have is with Sakura who seems to have the most given role and story arc for the series while being the cover girl alongside Erica from Sakura Wars 3, Gemini from Sakura Wars 5 and Sakura Amamiya from Project Sakura Wars. Now in terms of how and why I would mostly wish for Sakura to join Super Smash Bros is because she’s a heroin who I’ve witness grows from scared and clumsy girl to a brave and honourable woman, plus I wish for many characters to be recognized by more people besides myself which would give them potential to come over to the west side of the world from the east. In battle she is katana swordswoman who could use her spiritual sword techniques from her games including ones she has crossed over in such as Project X Zone and Star Ocean: Anamnesis while her Koubu could work as a Final Smash in my opinion. It might be slim at this point, but I still hold hope for Sakura as I do with all my most wanted characters to join Smash.
Honourable mentions below.
Agumon from Digimon
God Eater Protagonist from God Eater
Valkyrie from Adventures of Valkyrie
Haseo from .hack//G.U
Tokio from .hack//LINK (Echo of Kite)
Cross from Xenoblade Chronicles X

Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney
Dimitri from Darkstlkers
Jin Kazama from Tekken

Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden
Strider Hiryu from Strider
Vyse from Skies of Arcadia
Axel Stone from Streets of Rage
Gemini Sunrise from Sakura Wars 5 (Echo of Sakura Shinguji)
Kubfu from Pokémon Sword and Shield
And that’s my latest top 10 most wanted for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at this point. There are lot more in my honourable list I would like to say out, but that can wait on a separate note I will add to this page later on. Many of you might disagree with me on these pics and may still want your most iconic video game stars from each and every side of the world, but these are my own choices as I want to hear what you all think on these characters. I’ve already made a list of move set info as well as giving them details on their alt-colors, personal classic mode sets, home stages and character spirits they could bring which could help in some way give Sakuri and his team some inspiration for their massive fighting crossover series. Well everyone, leave a like and comment. See ya!
All characters belong to their respective companies mentioned above.
