I've had this project in mind ever since Episode III came out. As some of you know, I'm a big fan of the Timothy Zahn Thrawn Trilogy books that take place about 5 years after the original trilogy. If you like Star Wars or not, I just think they're a good read. But back to the point, after seeing Episode III, I was thinking what a shame it was they would never film versions of the Zahn books. As ~Jasmeralda pointed out, even if they wanted to, they wouldn't really be able to cast the original actors and it would just seem odd without them. Then my mind when over to Clone Wars and what a wonderful job they did with that and the solution hit me like a ton of bricks: What if they did the Thrawn Trilogy in animation? Well, I still doubt it will ever happen, as much as I would love it, but I thought it would be fun to work out what each of the characters would look like in the Clone Wars style.

This is only a partial collection, I'll keep updating the image as I get more sketches done, but I'm working on a couple commission projects at the moment, so it may be a bit between updates. For right now, I'm sticking with just the first book of the series, Heir to the Empire, but I'll decide later if I'm going to go into the other books.

left to right: Grand Admiral Thrawn with a ysalmiri drapped over his shoulder (since there are several designs for the ysalmiri out there, I just went with something I thought looked good), Jedi Master Joruus C'Baoth, Ghent, Smuggler Cheif Talon Karde with his pet vornskyrs, Strum and Drang, Mara Jade (with a slightly redesigned outfit. Nothing against the 'official' one, but there are some discrepancies with it and Zahn's text and I'd rather stay true to the latter more than the former), Lando Calrissian, Han Solo (who I will be making slightly taller) and Leia Organa Solo, Luke Skywalker, Winter, and Mon Mothma.
