main thing with this i notice, is you never EVER want to use that shade of yellow for lighting like that, always go with a yellowy orange, it looks better and when that shade of yellow goes to print it can look green. mainly, what i'm getting two pieces in, is that you need to learn a bit more about color choice and color theory. watch how saturated the colors you pick are, they seem to be a bit crayola, you know, too pure, too bright, too saturated.

Thanx, that does seem to be where I have my biggest trouble. Does it have anything to do with the color mode I use. How would I go about finding the right shade? I've read up on color theory, but I just feel I'm missing a little something.

here's the way i do it.
alot of people have problems picking colors really, i learned from using the color picker tool on photos and other peoples art to see where the colors were on the picker. highlights should almost always be picked out of the area marked as 1. most of your colors seem to be picked out of area 2, i avoid that area at all costs if i am not rendering the area of the most absolute immediate focus. area 3 is good for your midtone range, and area 4 is only used for my shadows, but the colors i pick are generally closer to area 3 than the edge of the picker where the color is most pure. a good system is have your base colors most greyish, and your highlights more colorful.

Glad you like it. I can't take credit for the brushes, I found them here on DA, but they definately have a great impact and will be using them in the future. Any time you want
