I agree, the brown sort of doesn't do the dress justice. Maybe add some dark green or something. I do like the fact that even though she's wearing a hat, it's hinted at that she might have pointy elf-like ears. Something about the gryphon's feet placement bothers me and I can't think of why.

Okay, I just figured on getting that posted while still having a shot at first comment.
This is neat - I love the eye candy dress. I think it would look better with a completely different background color scheme, however (It looks like one that could be painted over if you wanted to). The beautifully colored and detailed dress just looks like a different picture than the background, which is beautifully-shaped, but sort of drabbly-colored by comparison. I think maybe a light wash of a purple, a green, or a blue over parts of the background would perhaps improve it (practice in photoshop before committing to paint). Leave some browns in the foreground trees.

*throwing things at you* ARRRGH!!!!! It's guache, it's a royal PAIN to paint over!!!! (It also doesn't help the coloring that the computer turned the dark blue into florescent blue, but i can't fix that.)
