Description
The sun on my face, slowly burning my faith
Time to leave the oasis that has been my shelter
The time to gather strength for the future is now over
The future is now my present, and the future is the sun

I had my good times, now it's time to the rest.
I guess you never know how to appreciate the oasis,
Until you go through crossing the endless desert
Isn't that what my life is all about?

In my opinion, it can only be considered a photomanipulation when the art is the manipulation. Here, you just changed (unfortunately, too obviously) something you didn't like about the picture. You could put it in Photography>Darkroom or even in Photography>Landscapes and, on the comment, you would write that you cloned the trees. Anyway it is a beautiful picture.
Nicely done!

This is a very good image, but I think it might be more successful if it wasn't so blurred in the background as well as the foreground. Maybe if the BG was the only area blurred and the great details in that imprint were more visible it would be better.

Its a good shot though.

This is Photomaipulation?
Whats so manipulated about it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex37 In reply to Jakaroni [2008-03-11 08:19:29 +0000 UTC]

look at the trees...
A lot of people kicked up a lot of fuss over this one. If you read the comments below you will see gilad claiming that this shot is real and that it is "simply a beautiful natural symmetry". I for one am glad he fronted up and admitted it was a manipulation because he didn't have a leg to stand on.

Too bad that all discussion on this work took the attention about the fact what really counts: Do I like it? Yes I do and I keep my own definition on what I think are acceptable manipulations. But that is only for my work, not for somebodies elses. Van Gogh was also a good manipulator ! Instant here!

Please excuse my language, but I don't understand what's with all of the bitching? Do you do the art for recognition or for yourself? And no matter what answer you choose, shouldn't art be about the visual impression an image makes on you? What does it matter what media was used to create the finished product? If the image is successful, so be it. Slandering an artist because their art does not follow traditional methods seems trivial.

Yes, I am a fan of Gilad's work. I find his work to be innovative and visually successful, no matter how it is created.
