Oh, wow..... so, my friend and I can do the most angsty RPs imaginable! It's funny how they jump though - from one adorable Zim and GIR RP where the little android has his master pinned to the bed and is tickling him into submission - to one of the characters finding out they're terminally ill...

Another long explanation...

Dib is doing some housework in the Condo (as usual), but he isn't feeling like himself. He's in agony almost everywhere, can barely breathe, and barely has the strength to keep himself up. Zim - oblivious to his condition - gives a playful harmless pounce to the boy, and simply from lightly hitting his stomach on the floor, Dib gets one long and dark bruise on his abdomen.
Dib tries to convince his friends he's alright, and as proof, Zim tells him to sit up, which the child is unable to do..... After seeing the size of the bruise, Zim rushes him off to the nearest hospital, trying to convince Dib and himself that "it's for the smeets' sake", and trying to tell himself he doesn't really care.
A blood test reveals Dib's greatest fear: stage four Leukemia.. The cancer that killed his mother. He has merely a month or so to live, and he and Zim are at loss for words....
Still trying to keep himself distant and unattached, Zim attempt comfort in his words, and promises somehow he will use Dib's father's lab to find a cure. Tearfully, Dib tells him it is a sickness that cannot be stopped - especially at such an advanced stage. Realization that the child he's grown so secretly close to is going to die soon, breaks Zim, and since he's the only one there at the moment, offers a comforting hug, (certainly something you'd never expect Zim would give to Dib.) - Dib clings to him like his life depends on it, and even the nurse that comes to get Zim after visitting hours, cannot get them to let go of each other.
Because even enemies, (or in their case, friend/enemies) don't realize how much they actually need each other, and how much they care for eachother - until it is too late.

(The RP left off with Dib returning to the Condo, claiming he'd rather be with the people he loves when he dies, then hospital equipment. Tonight, we do Dib telling the kids (GIR an Talia), he's going to leave soon...........not sure whether to be excited or dreading it.)
