Description Hundreds of fans had gathered to see their favourite metal band playing tonight. It was rare to see many heavy metal concerts, so as soon as one is scheduled, metal fans in the masses come together from miles around to see the bands on stage.

Fans varied from teenagers to older adults, all with the same passion for the music. There were the hard-core heavy metal fans, with tattoos (lots of skulls and band names), and facial hair (only the men of course), dressed in leather jackets and jeans with Doc Martin boots. One particular tall man stood out, with his big, bushy beard and shaven head, with a sleeveless denim jacket showing the tattoos that plastered his arms.

However, there were plenty of younger generation fans with band t-shirts and hair in crazy styles and colours too, as well as piercings in different places on their faces, often accompanied with gauged ears. Amongst the younger fans were a couple of girls, proudly wearing their band t-shirts, paired with ripped skinny jeans, wristbands and converse, hair styled in a choppy, asymmetrical style, and pierced lips or nose.

7 o'clock, doors opened onto the standing area, and fans poured in, rushing to get as close to the front as possible for the best view of the bands, and also to be closer to the huge amps. They were all cramped in at the front, standing close together, waiting as patiently as possible for the gig to begin.

After half an hour, the lights began dimming and the crowd went wild; screaming and shouting, foreheads knotted from shouting as loud as possible.

As the band walked on, it made the waiting all worth it; music brought the stage to life and strobe lighting cut through the darkness, creating silhouettes of the band members walking on. Hands shaped in the rock sign were pushed into the air in time to the drumbeats, and guitar strums pulsed though each fan's chest and vibrated through the floor.

There was a visible gap in the hands shaped as horns, meaning that there was most likely to be a mosh pit forming. As the mosh pit erupted, fans threw themselves at each other in metal's form of showing their appreciation to the band: through attacking one another. It was chaos and anarchy mixed together with helping hands that pull you back up onto your feet when you trip faster than you can fall down. There was an incredible sense of camaraderie; they were all nice and considerate people, not at all like the media or haters want to make them look.

The heat was hardly bearable; fans were crammed into a very hot venue, standing very close to each other, faces red from a mix of shouting, heat and alcohol. This, however, did not slow the fans down or reduce their enthusiasm, they continued singing along, raising fists and horns into the air, and headbanging along to the music.

As a very well known song came on, fans jumped along to the beat, arms in the air, all screaming and shouting, singing along to the song. The crowd had become more like a sea of people. However, as a guitar solo in the song began, fans nearer the front separated, preparing for the more extreme form moshing: the Wall of Death. Some neared towards the edge, staying as far away as possible, trying to avoid getting involved. As the music grew louder and the singing began again, both sides ran towards each other and a wall of people crashed into each other.

I can say metal concerts are fun although I've never been in one. I've only been in one concert and that's a rock concert. I know, I know, I suck. Oh well, I'm going to a concert this April anyways so that makes it two. This is awesome, tbh. I now know how it really feels to be in a metal concert.

You don't suck, or at least I hope not, 'cos if only having been to one concert makes you suck, I suck too XD ... I've only been to one, but like you, I have another concert planned.

...and thanks, glad you liked it (:

Well then, I guess I'm not the only one. xD LOL. But I've never been to a metal concert. I want to know how it feels to be in a mosh pit (that's in a concert, not in school).

Well, good for you. Maybe someday I'd be able to watch a cool metal band live.
