this painting started out as a sketch for a challenge from my girlfriend. i then spent some more time on it, and here you are
frightening demon knight in +3 hellish armour-that-makes-no-sense-at-all with +4 sword of incredible anachronism about to wreak havoc upon poor mortal soldiers. *g

This is awesome. Was the knight inspired by the Penetrator from Demon's Souls? They share some details. Anyway, I love the way you paint.

no, it wasnt – i do have demons souls and i quite like it, too, but when i started playing it, there was an unfortunate combination of things: not too much time because of uni and everyones initial suckage at the game until they get the hang of it. i never got to when everything starts gathering some traction. i still need to properly dedicate time to that one.

So the demon knight is actually even more original than I thought. Impressive! You should try Demon's Souls again in the future, it is a very interesting game with amazing artwork. It might give you inspiration on your works (not that you need it that much, but still...).

yes, i definitely should. that much was clearly visible in the few hours i played.
as for originality: i guess both demons souls and this painting was somehow informed by extant armour shapes. the demons souls design looks like it draws heavily from european plate armour, and so does my painting: frog-mouth helm with a very impractical horn, and a liberally modified kastenbrust armour.

I love the frightened looks on the soldiers, combined with the casual way the knight's holding his sword, it's like "Who wants to die first?"
