Description my most recent work.
a torso following the natural shape of the piece of wood. it is wood of the golden chain (Laburnum anagyroides), which is very rare and only available in small pieces. on the other hand it is very looked after, as it is extremely beautiful, has a prominent difference between the nearly white sapwood and the dark, highly grained true wood.
I had this piece laying around for about ten years: so, it was dry.
I did follow the natural shape, but cut the piece in a way that I left parts of the sapwood. It does not nearly turn out as the actual pice. I will try upload better shots later.
entire length is about 65cm.

Thanks a lot!
for me, sculptures do have (or should have) haptic qualities. and you should be able to touch them.
stay well!

Very nice! Carpeting/background is perfect. Only thing I can spot is some slight texture stretching in the bottom left area of the picture on the wood. Other than that, excellent photorealism! How many lights did you use?

Thanks for your nice comment. I used availabel daylight in my house. The sculpture was positioned on a table close to two large windows, giving indirect light from two sides. stay well!

Haha! I'm a stupid person. I thought I saw this in the 3D Artists group and I thought it was a render! xD

Ok so actual sculpture in the real world. Looks very nice! The fluidity really plays nicely into the shape.

Brilliant! Takes some courage to dive into some of these woods, I would expect.

Do you ever feel like Michaelangelo's statement about his marble... that the sculpture is already there, he just had to release it? This new work of yours has subtle beauty that I appreciate.

Thanks, Jim, I do, but at the same I wonder, why I only pieces with female torsi inside
Anyway, for me following natural shape always is an adventure, but generally paying off well. The natural shapes give a natural rythm, which I like very much. Thanks for your comment! stay well!
