Description
Lammas, or Lughnasadh. ("Lugh's Games")The sun is fading away withering.
The winter is on the way in, the darker time is coming. The plants are being harvested. Its a bloody and violent yet celebratory time.
The new year is coming.
This painting was made with watercolors, ground radish skin, ground leaves, and acrylic paints. Paper, 11x14"
Edit posted - levels re-worked cause I realised the tone was too dark in the photo.

I love the colors in this one. I think the sun is very expressive too. I like the strips of red too, they really help symbolize this holiday for me. One thing I don't much care for: the stars in the upper right hand corner. I think they are pretty but they are each the same size/shape and facing the same way. I think by changing their size/shape/direction it would add a little bit more action in that corner. Just my two cents. But this piece is wonderful! Great work!

Unfortunately I don't have a prints account, or a version of this thats high resolution enough to make a print from. Perhaps sometime when I get back home from this assignment I can scan the original and try to make a print available. But that won't be until a couple years down the road.
