Description Always wanted to capture a close up of a Damselfly or Dragonfly and I've finally done it. They seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to shooting them, they let you creep up slowly and get your focus but the nanosecond you press the shutter, they're off.....every freakin' time !
However, I finally realised that if you stay perfectly still after they've flown off, they fly a circle and land back in the same spot, allowing you to get that dream shot.
This was taken without zoom with the lense less than an inch from the insect.
Taken whilst knee deep in a Dartmoor river at Belliver Woods, Devon, UK.

Nice shot, definitely a shame to cut the tip of the "tail" out though.

Beautiful shot. I've been trying unsuccessfully for a while to get a shot of a dragon fly so can appreciate how difficult it is to get them
