It's funny that I see the title because I actually want a shirt that reads "Damn you two handed bastards!" (See devID) So to counter I could see him in a T-shirt that would say "Damn you two legged bastards!" XD

I have to admit that I'm finding even some of the comments to be part of the art in this piece. However, the image, clearly, speaks quite loudly by itself. To me it portrays such a varied amount of uncertainty (as pointed out: his thoughts of jealousy, pity, or even sexuality among the various others listed) that the title, though not necessary (not because of some PC mumbo-jumbo, but because of the condition of the characters portrayed), helps eliminate said uncertainty to really draw out the intended focus. So, to reiterate myself, the title, I think, is both necessary and unnecessary. However, the dynamics considered in your rebuttals are really drawing out the core element of this piece for me. I rarely browse dA nowadays, but my eyes were certainly drawn to this, and I must ask: when the hell have true art and political correctness ever intentionally coincided?
P.S. I read somewhere, in one of your responses, that a large number of your photos remain in storage because of an opposition to an openly torn-apart portfolio that would simultaneously inflate your inbox with messages you might neither appreciate nor have the time to consider. What about opening a second account and posting the images there with comments disabled, even without linking it to your primary account? Since I have worked nearly 28 hours straight without sleep I may have missed the true point of that particular comment, so please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm simply curious of other pieces and will take a gander at your gallery after posting this. Regardless, the DD is well deserved.

I didn't bother to read the comments, your description said enough about what some people were saying. People just like to jump on things and get angry just for fun I feel like now days. Great image.

Words are arbitrary anyway. It's a shame we have to use euphemisms because some people are offended by the "bad-sounding" words. In this case, I can see why you chose crippled as opposed to disabled or something. After all, there are multiple interpretations of the former word and it quite fits in this situation. Remarkable capture anyway! The timing was just right!

I absolutely LOVE all the different emotions conveyed here, you can honestly assume what they are thinking here like for example the far left, the over-protective asbolute caring mother giving her daughter all the attention she could ever want; yet at the same moment a girl deemed lost in her thoughts, a bit under appreciated and understood has caused her heart ache and despair, and to look beyond that the two staring seem to be so focused so disrupted by something, towards whatever they are paying attention to. Then it meets in the center, two intertwined in a perpetual bliss and glowing happiness that has been dually noticed by this lonely old man, yet bound to a chair it seems he has had love in the past I honestly think he is admiring it because he sees the same love in himself a while ago. This is a truly thought provoking shot thank you for sharing!

From what I've seen so far it's only seen as an insult to someone who isn't crippled.
I'm partially crippled and I find no offense in the title. I have bad knees and ankles from being born bow-legged. Got 'fixed' too late and every so often I can't walk straight and my legs will buckle a lot. It's partly what I am and I'm easier to identify. It's harder to point out a girl with long black hair than it is to point out the person that's limping.
I don't feel sorry for myself and I hate when a person takes pity on me. I can still function. I'm not useless. Even if I were paralyzed I'm sure I'd have many skills that a person who was physically well could not do.
On aside from all that... Lovely shot. Even though most of the focus, I believe, should be on the kissing couple I find the crippled man to be more intriguing, much more so now that the title points him out. It's as if your attention SHOULD be on him.

Is it? It's hard to tell from that angle and the way the person dresses. Many apologies to the person if we're mistaking his/her gender.

seriously? people are faced with a beautiful photograph capable of conveying multiple messages, and all they worry about is the title?! It's not the title, it's the artwork, and the artwork in this situation just happens to be fantastic! What does it matter? I've been a crippled person more times than I care to recall, yet I find no reason to pay any mind to the- so deemed "offensive" title (Which I find to be extremely UN-offensive by the way, it fits the moment captured wonderfully). I must confess; I feel quite hypocritical by ranting and raving about the 'title issue'... but people really need to find something better to complain about if they feel like blowing things out of proportion...
ahem, anyway, I apologize for placing a rant in your inbox... Summery: Love the picture, love the title, good work, ignore other people's BS, okay? β₯β₯β₯

1. The title is part of the artwork.
2. I don't know what's offensive about it either, especially if "guy" is meant androgynously as it so often is nowadays.
3. We are in agreement that the picture is wonderfully emotive.

What kind of title is that, do you think you can come to dA and shove this offensive content to my face? This is a family-friendly site.
I suggest you changing it to "Hug me by the crippled guy" before I do something about it. ΓΉ.u
