And when we die, out body decomposes and becomes the essence of much of the energy that starts at the lowest tier of the energy pyramid, with decomposers on the bottom giving nutrients to primary producers and so on, up and up into the world of the sentient human being, which gets like 1/1000th of the energy from those dead bodies anyway.
