Description This is the Lake House in Washington Park, Albany, NY. It was decked out splendidly for the Capital District Lights in the Park event held during the month of December up to New Years. The park is ablaze with thousands of lights and lighted animated sculptures and the Lake House has a craft fair inside at the end of the drive through the park. The park itself is beautiful in the other seasons and this just enhances it. The park has been in the past three hundred or so years everything from a public pasture to a city cemetery.

Thank you so much for the compliment and the fave, Capital Holiday Lights, where this is, started on Thanksgiving weekend in Albany, NY. Xmas lights are one of my favorite things about the holidays.

What a well controlled shot and great description as well. You know, I really miss having lakes here, let alone rivers.

At least I had a happy childhood where they had a massive artificial lake in a theme park in the 80's. It had ducks, swans and lots of little fishies. We used to go paddle rafting on the "lake" - now the park has been defunct and dry since the early 90s.

Today the kids here have super malls to enjoy themselves in. sigh.

Thanks so much! I love living in the area I do, I must admit. I'm only a few miles away from the Hudson river and Lake George in NY so I can sympathize with you. I'd rather have been outdoors most of my young life but now i'm not healthy enough to hike or backpack.
A theme park with an artificial lake, sounds cool, I'd like to see that.

Thanks! I agree with the thoughts on reflections. I was hoping it would come out but you'll laugh that when I took the shot at first, I didn't think about the reflection it would create on the water.

Oooh so pretty! Whats almost prettier than the lights on the building is their reflection in the water!

Thanks! I was so pleased with the reflection myself even though I didn't think about it when I took the picture.
