This scan is so awful! But the paper is just slightly too large to get in the scanner bed without curling up the sides...

Illustration assignment, to do a scene from the story The Tortise and the Hare. Here the turtle-like fellow is walking on through the night over the insurmountable obstacle/landscape of the great big lazy rabbit. My point would have come across better with a much smaller turtle, but I couldn't draw him any smaller and make him still be interesting, so I chose pretty over effective.
