Description I was in New Jersey this weekend, and wanted to go to Cape May County zoo. I checked their hours so I could get there early (not a fan of summer crowds). On their homepage, they advertised new snow leopard cubs. I know that they had cubs last year, and the year before, but I don't think you could call them new. WRONG. They totally had two cubs born in April 2012. YAY.

The ugly board behind his/her head is to keep them from climbing up the mesh and not being able to get down. I'll allow it.

I'm really happy they can reproduce in captivity! Do you know how much is this species menaced? I really hope they won't go extinguished...

This is the third year in a row that this zoo has produced cubs. With snow leopards, it's hard to tell how well they're doing in the wild because they're so elusive. According to Wikipedia, the total estimated population is 4,080–6,590 (but only half may be able to breed).
