November 10th, 2014The first good snowflake macros of the year are in the books! Looking to experiment with lighting and backgrounds more this year. First upgrade was using a clean sheet of glass instead of the plastic I was using last year (fewer imperfections to clone out in post). Looking forward to gazing at more of these beauties!
*also, ignore the date in the EXIF info. I forgot to set my camera clock back for daylight savings!*

interesting pic, the center looks so strikingly un-random, like the head of a bolt. looking at other snowflake pics i see that this is not unusual:

Thanks! Yeah, always perfect hexagons. Snowflakes are crazy that way. Half of the time it's not the snowflake itself, but the bubbles inside of them that blow my mind
