Description Canon Digital Rebel XSi
reverse lens technique

Ever since I got my XSi, I've always wanted to do a few tribute shots of my first camera (PowerShot SD1000). This is one of my favorites from the series

Please tell me what you think!

I wish I had a macro lense...I'm afraid to do the reverse lense method, shakey hands, and clumsy by nature.
This symbol means macro on MY old camera but means close-up on my new camera, (the same as yours).
I think these symbols should all be universal, so folks like me don't get confused.

Yeah the macro capabilities of the XSi are a bit disappointing when shooting with the kit lens. My main problem with it is the focusing distance because you can't "fill the frame with a grain of rice" In other words, if you're shooting small things like snowflakes, it's tough to tell when your subject is in focus. I did find one feature quite helpful though: shoot in live view and press the button in the upper right corner. It will take the photo at full frame, but when you press this button, your view on the screen will zoom in 5x and 10x (when pressed twice) which makes it easier to see if your subject is in focus. And if you ever do try reverse macro, hit this button and your view looks like a microscope

I'm so afraid I'll hit something and not know how to put it back.
I haven't been able to make that button work.
I know it only works on some settings now, but so far, no luck.
I am so lame when it comes to technology.
