I dunno what's 'wrong' with the white balance in this one, I really like it the gradient on the leaves looks almost exactly like steel at forging temperatures!

It sure does, though I did have to process it a little to counter the IR hots pot this lens produces. All your IR images look to be free of this, is it thanks to the lens or processing also?

Me too, it's been a learning curve to figure out how to best expose things.
I found some advice that sometimes on a lens with IR hotspots stopping it down can avoid it, and that was the case on the lens I had most problems with. Just means I wont be using anything higher than a 760nm filter handheld.
Lens flare is pretty crazy when the sun is in front of you - but I haven't really tried shooting in overcast weather. I suppose it makes sense, even if there's less IR it'd be diffused and make it easier not to blow out the highlights. hmm. something else for me to experiment with
