Description A shot of an M-24 Chaffee light tank that was introduced late in WW 2. It was a replacement for the older scout tanks. The moire pattern in the tent behind it is due to the sunlight on the mesh fabric.

You may or may not know that in the 1965 movie, Battle of the Bulge, they used these as Sherman Tanks and the German Tiger II's were played by AmericanΒ M47 Patton tanks.Β  The Battle of the Bulge may be one of the best tank movies but the tanks were so wrong.

I don't know a whole lot about them other than they were introduced late in the war.

It was a very modern looking tank for a WWII design, this and the Pershing both.

Yeah. They started copying the German suspensions using torsion bars and the like instead of the volute type set up used on the Sherman.
