It took me a while to decide what to do for this week, since Valentine’s Day is coming up and my theme letter was F. After a little deliberation I decided to paint the flying scene from Superman (1978).
Full disclosure, I haven’t watched this movie since I was a little girl, so I was taken aback at just how saturated all the colors were in the reference image. I ended up color picking directly from the source since I don’t usually make my colors this vibrant.
This could probably benefit from some film grain and slight blurring around the edges, but I’m okay with it for now.
Since my next request stream falls on Valentine’s Day, I will be giving preference to appropriately-themed requests. I max out at about a PG-13 rating, so nothing too explicit, okay?

He's a great character when he's written well. It feels like a lot of the newer movies miss some great opportunities with his character in favor of going the standard grimdark route...

I know! I once read this one story where he talked a girl out of committing suicide! He didn't stop a bullet with his hand, he didn't cut a noose wrapped around her neck with his heat vision, he didn't even catch her while she was falling! He didn't save her with his powers, he just SAVED her.
She was about to jump off of a building because she thought her therapist stood her up, but in reality he got held up with another patient. Superman just flew up to her.... and he TALKED her out of it! THAT, to me, has always been what makes him one of the best; he may be an alien, but he is so human! I swear, it tugged at my heartstrings when she hugged him.

My personal favorite excerpt is when he finds out that Captain Marvel is Billy Batson. He's furious that the wizard would saddle a child with those powers, but after confronting the wizard about it, he decides to reveal his own secret identity and become a mentor to Billy.
