Go knights, Strike down the darkness!
Fantastic work, with all the action taking place, the light effect of the torch and the glowing eyes of the werewolves is creepy. The full moon in the background, light reflecting off the armor of the knights. All the detail is fantastic!
I wish we had more films and video games like this. It takes an army of brave people to defy such horrors, not one hero and his/her small band of friends. Wouldn't it be more inspiring to see an army of brave warriors stopping a terrible darkness then one person doing all the work by themselves? If films showed that did more often that I would find it more believable.
Again awesome work!Β Β

Silly European Nobles. The best way to do this would be to use horse archers against them. A host of Ghengis Khan's Cavalrymen, Ottoman Sipahi or Samurai with Yumi would have gotten the Job done with a lot less casualties.

This is fortunately where the noted Werewolf vunerability to Element 47 comes into play.

Element 47 then being what in the table over base elements is Ag (if i remember it correctly), that is silver. Right?

Right.
And silver-tipped arrows would be preeeetty expensive, even in the middle ages. (prolly ESPECIALLY then)

It's not like they couldn't just tear out the arrow and keep on running...
Or why would silver be like poison?
I think that if silver would have some effect on a verewolf, then it would be that of either burning the werewolf, or just otherwise irritating the area it comes into contact with.

Vunerability to silver is one of the most well established bits of Werewolf Lore.
In regards to removal, many kinds of arrowheads are designed to be hard to remove. Simply tearing these out by the shaft of the arrow would cause additional damage and break the shaft. The only way to remove them would be to claw it out, along with a fair bit of meat, and if Werewolves feel pain or have drives to avoid pain doing so would be agony.

Antaria-Nova In reply to Imperator-Zor [2010-10-05 11:46:31 +0000 UTC]
First part: Yes, silver hurts them, but in what way? Burn? Poison?
Second part: Yes I know many arrows work the same way a hook you go fishing with; it has that slightly 'A'- like shape, with the 'feet' of the a being two pointy wedges (or what to call them) that are pointed backwards from the tip, and hook on to the inside of the entry wound would one try to tear it out.
Werewolves having claws, they could probably pry out the arrowhead without any major further injury (if they're smart).
And just tearing the arrow out would leave a pretty nasty open wound, but if werewolves do have special regenerative capabilities, and leaving the silver arrow in would either cause burns or sort-of poison the werewolf and slow them down, then I guess that would be an option in a situation where the werewolf would either just sustain that severe wound (wich ofcourse also might slow them down, depending on where it hit) and escape, or be caught and killed.

Toxicity is the most logical way that the silver vunerability can be explained. Werewolves have a vunerability to a certain chemical, like humans with arsenic.
Also medieval doctors had specialized tools to remove arrowheads while doing as little damage as possible. Even with high regeration i can not see removing one of these without anasthetic to take some time as well as being agony to anything that feels pain.

Antaria-Nova In reply to Imperator-Zor [2010-10-11 14:54:39 +0000 UTC]
Well, it would be agony, yes, but isn't it part of the lore that werewolves also are quite bestial, and have a high pain endurance (or whatever to call it). Even then it'd surely be agony, but I think that werewolves still retaining some degree of intelligence, they'd see the options, and rather prefer sustaining that wound from removing the arrow, than leave it in and be poisoned and killed.
If the arrow hits somewhere where it is lethal no matter what, those options ofcourse don't apply.

Thank you all for the kind words, faves and watches! It is much appreciated and it makes me glad to hear that you like it!
@mt1608: The crosses on their necks are just a mind/fantasy teaser...
I prefer the idea of werewolfes being feral and mindless rather than being in control and aware of their change. So the inital idea was that perhaps some priests/monks from a local monastery got infected wit licantrophy and turned into a blood-hungry pack that spreaded horror in the surrounding lands every full moon until they were hunted and slain by the united landlords... So the knights in fact had to turn against their own spiritual ranks.
But feel free to "see" you own story behind the wolfes wearing crosses...
